From cbs4.com:

The Miami-Dade Empowerment Trust was formed eight years ago to help the county's poorest neighborhoods to rise above poverty, and that mission has been fueled by tax dollars. ...

... an extensive investigation by CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald published in Sunday's editions of the newspaper paints a different picture, that of an agency lacking oversight making questionable expenditures on items which don't meet the stated mission...

... one odd use of the trust's millions of taxpayer dollars involving the MTV Video Music Awards ... Diddy was flown into Miami and home again on a private jet, at the cost of $87,000 ... The money for the flight did not come from MTV; it came from the trust...

Nothing really to do with Diddy, but I wanted to mention it, anyway. The trust's website lists economic development as one of their goals... bringing the MTV Awards (and Diddy) to Miami would seem to be a way to create an economic boost for the area that would offset that $87,000, but perhaps not.

AllHipHop.com has a "studio exclusive" with Gorilla Zoe. It's a video interview from Daddy's House in New York. He talks about the album and talks about 3 tracks in particular, rapping to parts of them. They are "Count On Me", "Last Time I Checked" and "Tryna Make A Jug". He then goes into the studio and does a verse and hook in there.

In the earlier part of the video, there are a couple of pieces of memorabilia shown. A plaque for "In the Beginning... There Was Rap", a compilation album that featured the Diddy track "Big Ole Butt" featuring Lil' Cease. There is a large autographed photo of Faith Evans ("You'll Always Have... Faith"). Give me a camera and an hour in Daddy's House and I'll come back with some good photos. Finally, there is a photo from the "No Way Out" cover shoot by Michael Benabib, who I interviewed in our "No Way Out" retrospective.

As an aside, if some of his album, at least, have been made at Daddy's House, I probably would have liked it more. It's not the studio, necessarily, but it just would have meant that he was probably working with different people. Not a fan of "Welcome to the Zoo", unfortunately.

AllHipHop.com has an interview with Diddy, focusing on fragrance and fashion.

AllHipHop.com: What brands did you rock when you were coming up?

Diddy: Oh man on the fragrance tip I loved the Calvin Klein Obsession stuff. To be honest in the beginning a lot of our inspiration on really doing things that were authentic and pushing the envelope were inspired from Calvin and growing up around then. These are the images they never seen in this game, they never seen like a man in bed with two women or like some shots taken in the stairwell. It’s all of that 9 And A Half Weeks and Rendezvous things that we all experienced. You can work in a post office and you can have your own little 9 And A Half Weeks experience. We all can relate to that.

Hour.ca has the story.

But in Jamaica, ground zero in the war over dancehall, there have been a reported 98 gay-bashings so far this year, including four lesbians who were raped and four gay men who've been killed. And anti-gay dancehall has become the music of the people.

That is why the three-year-old international campaign against these dancehall performers is called Stop Murder Music.

And the just-formed Canadian chapter is protesting Elephant Man's 12-date Canadian tour that began Sept. 20 in Winnipeg and brings the dancehall don to Montreal's Rialto on Oct. 5.

Mariah has responded to Diddy's challenge in regard to her fragrance. From contactmusic.com:

"I heard about this competition, and I wish Puff (Combs) all the best with his new fragrance. ... I think we're actually appealing to different types of women. M by Mariah Carey is about being unforgettable, not unforgivable. ... It's not about a menage a trois or a one night stand, it's for the woman who wants the man to fall in love with her immediately, stay in love, and treat her like royalty."

The article also details how Diddy has invited her, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Sarah Jessica Parker to do a blind smell test in front of the Sean John store in NYC. He says that the loser would have to pay for a shopping spree.

The Los Angeles Times has a huge story today.

A prison inmate who had implicated a former Los Angeles Police Department officer in the shooting death of rap star Biggie Smalls has renounced his story, tying a new knot in the tangle of intrigue that surrounds the still-unsolved killing.

Waymond Anderson, who was briefly a top-selling R&B artist and is serving a life term for murder, said in a recent deposition that he lied about LAPD involvement in the Smalls slaying as part of a "scam" concocted by two other convicts to squeeze a large monetary settlement out of the city.

Smalls' family has filed a wrongful death suit seeking damages from the city. In a surprising twist, Anderson accused the rapper's family and its lawyer of participating in the scheme and offering to pay him for false testimony implicating the LAPD.

He said he was offered a percentage of any settlement if he testified that former Los Angeles Officer Rafael Perez had told him that another ex-officer, David Mack, was involved in the murder. In the deposition, he repudiated earlier statements to police investigators in which he described conversations with both of the disgraced officers.

Read the full story for more. Sanders, and a lawyer he is associated with, have denied all of these claims.

With "Welcome to the Zoo" released, I thought I'd talk about some of the tracks and features that had been discussed that didn't make the cut or end up panning out.

In April, Block spoke with MTV, saying that Zoe already had songs done for his album with Bobby Brown and Big Boi. In August, Bad Boy issued a bio for the rapper. Bobby Brown was mentioned, once again, alongside Akon as features on the album. A song with Zoe featuring Bobby Brown called "Life of a Hustler" was released online and featured in a tracklist released by the label in August. Akon and Big Boi were probably the two biggest features mentioned for this album. Unfortunately, neither made it, nor did Bobby Brown.

A version of "Tryna Make a Jug" was released online toward the end of August. It featured Big Gee and Rick Ross. The album version just features Big Gee.

In June, Bad Boy released a Sizzle Reel where they indicated that Young Jeezy would be featured on "Hood N****". Though this version was released online, the album version does not feature him.

The afforementioned tracklist featured a few tracks that don't appear to have made the cut, based on track titles. It's possible that they may have made the cut with different titles, however. They are:

"Zoe"
"Battle Up" (Could be "Battle Field"?)
"Locked Up or Dead"
"Won't Let You Down"
"Life of a Hustler a.k.a. Money on the Block"

AllHipHop.com spoke with Diddy on the "I Get Money" remix. A sampling:

"If it came down to a video, I would make sure the video is right," ... "The session was the way you can imagine it. It was a billion dollars in the building. It was a lot of power in there. You basically had the powerhouses of Hip-Hop all in one room and we had a ball."

"People say that s*** and they making it up [in their rhymes] but I was on the cover of Forbes with Jerry Seinfeld ten years ago. So the world is just catching up," ... "I’ve had my subscription since I’ve been nineteen years old with Forbes and Robb Report and Fortune Magazine. I stays on the lists.

To have that articulated in the most craziest pop s*** way and then to have two of your counterparts [50 Cent and Jay-Z] critique your verse and give it the thumbs up? It isn't even fair."

Diddy spoke with MTV on the "I Get Money" remix and the process of creating his verse:

There's been a lot of hoopla surrounding the remix of 50 Cent's "I Get Money," featuring three of the biggest titans in the game: 50, Jay-Z and Diddy. Was Jay going at LL Cool J? Was Diddy going at Mase? Well, according to the Bad Boy CEO, there was no type of animosity between Forbes' hip-hop cash kings when they got together to record. And he should know: Jay and Fif actually helped him write his verse, he told us.

"Everybody put all the greasy, slick-talk to the side," Diddy explained. "And we all got in the studio and cooked up something real special for the people. That would've been impossible [for us to be dissing anyone] being that we all sat in the same room and everybody helped me out with my verse, to finish it up. ... It just wasn't that type of energy, you know what I'm saying? And the song ain't really taking shots at anybody to be honest. It's really just putting down your status in the game. Everything I said on there I did. I wasn't just ... on top of the Forbes list. I was on the cover of Forbes. You know, 10 years ago, before cats even knew what the magazine was."

Going at Mase? Which part of the verse could that be? Was Mase riding around in Miami on mopeds? heh.

From MTV.com:

Diddy also put to bed any rumors of a rift between him and Elephant Man. Whispers started getting louder that the dancehall artist ran up in the Bad Boy offices in New York and put his hands on Diddy. Apparently, the Energy God wasn't too happy with the progress of his project. But Diddy said don't believe just everything you hear.

"Elephant Man's been in Jamaica," he explained. "He was here and when I was here — you see, I don't have problems like that, to be honest. That sh-- right there, that be happening to other people. That sh-- don't be happening to me. My house is all good and everybody sees the way I handle my problems, you know what I'm saying? You just kind of let it go. Everything don't need to be addressed. You kinda take that approach."

On Friday, I reported that Diddy would be appearing at this year's VH1 Hip Hop Honors. My guess then was that he'd be participating in the part dedicated to New Jack Swing, seeing that his mentors, Andre Harrell and Teddy Riley, would be accepting the honor. The show will air on VH1 and VH1 Soul on October 8 at 10 PM ET.

At the end of last month, I reported that Elephant Man's "Let's Get Physical" would feature 4 new tracks for the U.S. released (as opposed to Japan release). One of those tracks was a solo track produced by Swizz Beatz that I didn't get a title for.

The title could be "Jump". From The Jamaica Observer:

Elephant Man's album, Let's Get Physical, will now be released on November 6 on Bad Boy Records. The 14-track album includes Jump featuring Swizz Beats; This Is The Way We Roll featuring Busta Rhymes and Shaggy; Throw Your Hands Up featuring Rihanna; and Make Your Body Sweat featuring Chris Brown. Yung Joc, Assassin, Mya and Wyclef Jean also appear on the album.

It says "featuring Swizz Beatz" where Elephant Man told me that it was just him on the track, so perhaps that is just a mistake. It also mentions "Make Your Body Sweat" as the title for the Chris Brown track, where Elephant Man had told me "Get You Wet". I note that the article says it is a 14 track album, but as you can see in our interview with him, he said that they added 4 new tracks. So, that would tend to mean that the tracks that were already there were kept. That would make sense.

Watch live on Diddy's MySpace. There is a little bit of inappropriate content here and there, so there is the warning.

I may have missed the first 30 seconds to a minute of the broadcast as the page was refreshing on me. Anyway, the first thing that I see is Cheri Dennis hosting and then she passes off to Terrence and Rocsi from BET's 106 & Park. They mention that Jay-Z and Beyonce will be attending.

Back to Cheri Dennis, who says that she will be asking celebrities if they have had any naughty moments - any unforgivable moments. Terrence and Rocsi mention that this is their first mansion party. Diddy will be giving a tour of the mansion.

Terrence and Rocsi heard that Aretha Franklin will be here, as will Cuba Gooding, Jr. Both Terrence and Rocsi are both wearing Sean John. Surprise! :)

It looks like they'll be passing it back and forth between Cheri and Terrence and Rocsi all night. Cheri was just talking about how great the fragrance is. She's waiting for celebrities to come in. Cheri's wearing Sean John, as well. She mentions that her album is due out January 29.

They took a break and we see various footage on the peach carpet and in the mansion. I thought I heard Cheri say "B5? They better not be doing anything unforgivable. They're supposed to be in bed by now." But, I may not have heard her right. Anyway, we return to Terrence and Rocsi now. Time for a break.

Here it is: most people don't like what they've heard from B5. That's the simple fact here. People do not like what they have heard up to this point. If they did, their sales would be higher.

To blame Bad Boy, Diddy or promotion in general is an excuse - and an absurd one, at that. B5 has been promoted well. They've been on BET's 106 & Park (twice), including one performance. They've been on Access Granted. They've been promoted heavily online through the Bad Boy and label channels. They've had a paid ad campaign online and on TV. They've been featured on heavily trafficked websites like TeenHollywood.com, Meez and AOL. They've been featured in major publications. They've participated in a good sized media tour, dealing with TV, radio and internet (including me), providing them with a solid amount of coverage and interviews. They've been on tour. And that's just what is coming to mind at this moment. And then, of course, you have the various fan based efforts and street teams that exist.

Do you know how many artists would kill for one performance on 106 & Park, let alone the rest of that stuff? Artists with a quarter of that marketing sell 18,500 records. It's not promotion. It's the fact that what the public has heard of B5 isn't clicking with them. With the first album, this meant "All I Do" and "U Got Me". With this one, it means "Hydrolics". People just aren't into what they've heard and see of B5.

B5 has their fans, yes. And that's mostly a good thing and, hopefully, those fans bought records. (I don't know if I'd consider myself a B5 fan - I'm a Bad Boy fan - but I bought 2 copies). But, it's just not enough for their fans to like them. Their music has to click with a wider audience and it has not. This is an album that has had a solid promotional push, at least, with some money behind it. On top of that, this couldn't have been a cheap album to make, either. Not everyone gets to work with Mario Winans, Bryan Cox and Danja. For the most part, a song is either going to catch or it's not. Promotion can be a reason for poor sales (it is plainly not, in this case), but at the end of the day, songs either catch or they don't. None of their songs have.

With any group that doesn't sell well, you have a set of fans that blame everyone and act like everyone is out to get them and/or the act they are a fan of. It's sabotage! The label, the executives, TV stations, retailers, the media, whatever. They're not doing their job, they're not realizing how great the act is, they're "hating" and on and on and on. It doesn't matter how much promotion they've had, some people would always say it wasn't enough. At some point, you have to step up and stop blaming everyone.

Personally, I want them to be successful. When I interviewed them, they all struck me as nice, polite young men. Like I said, I'm a Bad Boy fan and I bought 2 copies of their album. I cover them like I cover every other artist here. But, this is just how I see it. We're 2 albums and 3 singles into their career. Neither album has been a measurable success (their first album has sold 230,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and they have not had a single song chart on the Hot 100. To put that into perspective, Gorilla Zoe's "Hood Figga" is currently at 72 on the Hot 100 chart. It's his first single - ever. The reason is simple enough - more people want to listen to it.

Does this mean that this album is not going to be a success? No. You can't dismiss albums in their first week. That said, for most albums, their first week is their biggest week. It's more of a rarity that albums have better weeks than their first. But, it can happen. Maybe, just maybe, with their 4th single - their 2nd from this album - something will catch with that larger audience that will lead to increased sales. I hope that happens. If it doesn't - you don't know how many chances they are going to get.

Forbes has a story on the "I Get Money" remix. In the story, they offer a download of the track.

Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson tips his G-Unit-branded hat to Forbes on the remix of his latest single, “I Get Money.” Dubbed the “Forbes 1, 2, 3 Remix” and the “Billion Dollar Remix,” the song, which features cameos by fellow hip-hop kingpins Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs, is a boast over the trio’s top billing on Forbes’ recent list of the top earners in rap music.

In an e-mail to Forbes about the single, Diddy wrote, "We appreciate the opportunity to trail blaze at Forbes.com, proving we're not only the TOP earning entertainers but the TOP entertainment thinkers to come up with something as innovative as this."

Now, I'd like for B5 to be the top seller this week. But, that's not gonna happen. As I discussed earlier this week, coming in 4th will be a very solid accomplishment for them. So, if that happens, B5 fans should be happy.

But, if Kanye is the one that finishes number 1, that's the second best thing that could happen, as a Bad Boy fan. Kanye is a disciple of Diddy, in a way. D-Dot came up under Diddy, Kanye came up under D-Dot. They're friends, they respect each other (Kanye's paid his respect to Diddy numerous times, including the "Everything I Got" track), they've collaborated on "Press Play" and dueted. He's had kind words for Joc and he's been working with Cassie (and featured her in his video for "Stronger") and Ness. So, it's pretty clear that Kanye is a supporter of Bad Boy and vice versa.

On the flip side, you have 50 Cent. 50's been kind of up and down with Bad Boy. He got on the Bad Boys II soundtrack and was allowed to use Biggie's vocals for his track. He was put on "Victory 2004" when they released the 10th Anniversary album. Then, somewhere in 2006, 50 lost his head. In March, he said that Diddy was driving Biggie into the ground. What he said to support this came across as backwards and hypocritical. In April, when MTV asked him who the greatest MCs ever were - he failed to mention B.I.G. He was the only one they asked who didn't mention him.

Then, we had the issue with Mase. Diddy didn't want to let Mase go for what 50 wanted. So, in June, rumors circulated that 50 was getting ready to go at Diddy through diss tracks. And, in August, he released it. And he said crazy things, like Diddy knows who killed Biggie and isn't telling. Diddy sort of, kind of, responded through a video he posted on YouTube. But, in typical fashion, Diddy didn't tackle the nonsense because he didn't have to. And they talked and it was over. Shortly after, Diddy signed with Violator Management. On their client list? 50 Cent. And, since then, 50's rocked to Diddy's performance at the BET Awards, came out at Screamfest with him and brought him onto the "I Get Money" remix. So, they're back on decent ground, though 50 said, not long ago, that he's not friends with Diddy. Whatever.

With that in mind, I'll get back to my original point here. If B5 can't be tops in sales this week, Kanye is the next best thing for Bad Boy fans.

B5 was on 106 & Park today. They came out and performed "Hydrolics". Bow Wow performed both of his verses as a "surprise" guest. B5's performance was pretty good. I liked it better the second time I saw it. The reason for that is that it seemed a little sloppy in parts. It focused more on dancing than singing and there's nothing wrong with that - but the dancing and lip syncing must be on point and it was, for the most part. There were a couple missteps. Bow Wow added to the performance in a great way and served as a hype man when he wasn't rapping. Overall, a pretty good performance.

After their performance, they did a quick interview where they talked about the album, how they've grown, etc. Bow Wow stuck along and mentioned that B5 has a standing invite to tour with him (he mentioned the Face Off tour). So, that might be something to watch for.

Previously, we reported that Circuit City would have an exclusive bonus track for "Don't Talk, Just Listen" and that that track was "Boom Boom Boom". Having received my copy of the Circuit City version of the album, I can share some info for those that don't yet have it.

Despite what the back cover says (another back cover error - noooooooooo!), "Boom Boom Boom" is track number 13 on the album. I daresay this has led to a lot of frightened gasps from B5 fans when they skip to track 14 only to find "Things I Would Do". "Rockstar" is included on this version of the album, as well, as a hidden bonus track after "Things I Would Do" - as it is on the normal version of the album.

"Boom Boom Boom" is featured in the album booklet. It was produced by The Co-Stars and Mischke.

Sandra Rose has an interview with Sarah Chapman, who was recently revealed to have had a child with Diddy. Apparently, his first daughter.

Sarah expressed surprise that Kim dropped her name in the Essence interview. "She threw my name in that s***," said Sarah, raising her voice slightly. Regarding Kim's revelation that Kim didn't speak to Sean Combs about Sarah's baby until after her twins were born, Sarah said, "the scary part is that any woman can be with a man and not even mention to him 'oh, I heard you got another woman pregnant' - that's really scary. For the longest time she never mentioned my pregnancy to him. She kept it a secret to herself so it wouldn't take the shine off of her," said Sarah. "I thought [Sean] was lying, but he said Kim never mentioned my pregnancy to him."

Back in March, we reported on the law suit filed against Diddy by Gerard Rechnitzer, who had accused him of assault in February. It's been pretty quiet since then, but there is something new to report in the story.

From E! News:

An attorney for Gerard Rechnitzer, who sued Combs for assault in battery in March, filed court papers Monday requesting that the hip-hop mogul be ordered to produce photographs of the rings he was wearing in the wee hours of the morning on Feb. 25 when he allegedly threw down with his client outside of celebrity hotspot Teddy's at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel. ...

"Needless to say, Combs does not wear simple rings," states the motion filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. "The rings he wore when he struck [Rechnitzer] are important and critical to the biomechanics of this case."

SOHH.com has a quick write up on B5 and the fact that their album was released the same day as Kanye West and 50 Cent.

"We're not worried," Kelly told SOHH. "I think we can hold our own. We have a great fan base, they support us real big. We think we can do this thing." ...

"I'm excited about the tours we're going to be doing - after the release date we actually get to perform the new songs," Carnell said. "That's a big thing because we've been doing the same songs for almost two years now."

The fact of the matter is this. If B5 comes in at 4th on the Billboard 200 chart, behind Kanye, 50 and Kenny Chesney, that'll be an accomplishment and should not be looked at as a disappointment. These are big acts that will move big units. B5's not going to move those kinds of units. However, coming in at 4 would be very good and, if they can get their album to a gold certification by the RIAA, that'd be a big deal, as well.

Wayne Barrow is Biggie's former manager and a producer on the upcoming film, "Notorious". Nearly a month ago, they launched their open casting call to find their Biggie.

I conducted a short phone interview with him yesterday with my main objective being to find out what, if anything, that I could about the soundtrack. Are we going to hear any Biggie we haven't heard already? Alas, it was not in the cards as they have not even begun to really discuss that subject, yet. But, with that out of the way, I asked him a few other things that had been on my mind - including questions about the Biggie brand, the casting call, Sean Kingston and Diddy's involvement in the film. These stories are unfortunate. In the upcoming issue of Essence, in stores tomorrow, Kim Porter speaks on her break up with Diddy and confirms that he had a child outside of their relationship, about 5 months before the twins were born. That means that it would have happened around October 2005. Kim and Diddy have been on and off again... were they on then? I don't know. But, if they were in a committed relationship at this time, obviously, it is what it is. It's a bad thing and there's no excusing it.

I wonder if is this going to be a continuing thing with Kim. Realistically, the reason that anyone who knows who she is, knows who she is, is because of her relationship with Diddy and her being the mother of his children. That's why magazines want to talk with her. So that she can dish, which will then sell magazines. She's done it. Now, will she use this association to stay in the spotlight? If what she says about them still being friends and all that is true, it wouldn't seem like this would happen and it definitely wouldn't continue to happen. But, we'll see.

Update: It is now online.

The Wal-Mart exclusive voicetone for "Don't Talk, Just Listen" is supposed to be at http://www.b5online.com/walmart. But, that is currently a dead link. I've been in contact with someone in mobile promotions at Atlantic and hope to know more soon. I imagine that it it isn't up today, it'll be up within a week or two.

That said, it's just plain bad that Bad Boy/whoever doesn't have these mobile exclusives online on the day that you can buy the album. In a market where it's hard enough to sell CDs, you don't need to do things that make consumers feel like they've been taken. That's not what Bad Boy is going, but it's how people will feel. Anyway, hopefully it'll be up soon.

Second one, "Coming Soon", features "Welcome to the Zoo", "Back Up N Da Chevy" and "Let's Get Physical".

Back when we broke the new tracklisting, I guessed that "Rockstar" may be a hidden track in the vein of "Sleep On It" from Danity Kane's album. That's exactly how it worked out. Donnie mentioned it earlier today and I have a copy in my hands now, so I can confirm that that is the case.

This explains the long track time of "Things I Would Do" listed on various sites. If you check out iTunes, you can buy "Rockstar" by itself, as well.

Tracklisting:

1. "Hydrolics" featuring Bow Wow and Diddy
2. "How You Not Gonna"
3. "Right to Left"
4. "Erika Kane"
5. "Got It Like That"
6. "Tear Drops"
7. "In My Bedroom"
8. "All Over Again"
9. "What it Do"
10. "No One Else"
11. "I Must Love Drama"
12. "So Incredible"
13. "Things I Would Do"

"Rockstar" is supposed to be a bonus track, but I am unsure as to where that will come in. I asked B5's management on Sunday and they weren't even sure. So, we'll see. Circuit City has an exclusive bonus track (perhaps "Rockstar", perhaps not) while Wal-Mart has an exclusive voice tone. Both can be purchased online.

However, that's not what the rules page says. The rules state that there will be a grand prize of $1,000 cash, 10 second place prizes of a phone call from B5 and 50 instant winners of an autographed B5 poster. I'll hopefully know what the official prizes are soon and we'll have an update then.

MSNBC.com says that Tommy Lee and Criss Angel had come over to say hello to Diddy when Kid Rock returned to his seat and... it went downhill from there. For more on the VMAs and Diddy, see my quick recap.

Posted in Diddy/Dirty Money

Edit: He was supposed to be presenting with Kid Rock, not Tommy Lee.

Diddy came on to introduce the final performer of the night (Timbaland with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado). He came on with Joc at his side and, from what he said, it seems he was supposed to be up with Kid Rock. But, from what Sway said after the show, Kid Rock went over to Tommy Lee and punched him. So, instead of Kid Rock, he brought Joc up.

Diddy said that it's not over until he says, so hold on and they went to commercial. Joc got in a "Hustlenomics" before the break. When the commercial ended, Diddy had been joined by Nelly and Dallas Austin and he then introduced Timbaland.

HipHopGame.com has an interview with Ness. Very good read, lots of information. He was in a movie with Freeway called "What We Do". It's not out, yet. He's trying to get a new reality show off the ground with MTV. He's got a clothing line that's in department stores in Philadelphia. He says that they are shooting for a Spring 2008 release of his album, around March. On the album:

How’s your debut album Nessessary coming?

It’s coming along crazy. I got production from will.i.am, Chad West, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, Khrysis, Doe Fat, Stevie J and the Bad Boy Hitmen. I got stuff from Yogi. I got stuff from my man Black Keyz. I got tracks from Matrax. Bink! gave me some stuff. He did “1-900 Hustler.” It’s diversified. You’re not going to hear the drug dealing and the shoot ‘em up, bang-bang that you hear from every other street artist that’s coming out. I’m really thinking deep. I got the jackhammer. I’m more than just an artist. I’m a father, I have a clothing line, I have other websites…I have my hands in a lot of things.

How frustrating has it been waiting for your debut album to come out?

It’s real frustrating because of course as an artist, you’re hungry and you have the talent and you want to showcase your talent. It’s really inspiring to me because it just makes you want to get out there and it makes me want to let the world know what I can do. I’ve been off for four years but a lot of that was just the politics and making sure the paperwork was straight. I had to make sure that everybody was going to keep their word and now everything is official. So now I’m ready to rock and roll. The whole staff is behind my record and Diddy is one of Ness’ biggest fans. He’s really the main reason why Warner Brother gave me the deal; because he spoke so highly of me. He just has faith in my music that it can make money out here.

I really don't like to talk about such nonsense, but I guess I have to as it's going to become a story, I'm sure. Diddy has denied purchasing drugs as some random people on YouTube (not like it matters) allege he's doing in this video.

Seriously? Like, for real? How do you watch a video like that and start yelling drug use. People need to consider their words and how important what you say can be. You can't look at that clip and then presume such a thing. That's real serious. But, it's not surprising. A lot of people don't take what they say seriously and don't care how it affects other people.

I like how the Yahoo! report says that the video shows a "contentious" exchange. That word means "tending to argument or strife; quarrelsome". There is no contentious exchange on that video. Come on now.

Theo asked:

Who produced "Let's Get Further?" by Danity Kane. Is it a single for their next album?

Answer: The track was produced by Ryan Leslie and was meant for their debut album, "Danity Kane". It didn't make the cut.

Update: It's now online.

I just received my copy of "Hustlenomics" with the K-Mart exclusive voicetone. It comes with a separate insert that tells you to go to http://www.yungjoc.com/kmart. The only thing is that if you go there, you are redirected to http://www.block-ent.com/yungjoc, seemingly unable to redeem the voicetone. I'll report back when I know more.

It's a cool moment for Bad Boy Blog as we've been mentioned on the official Bad Boy site for the first time, thanks to our interview of Elephant Man. If you look in the news section, you'll see it. Pretty awesome, right? :) Hopefully, it's the first of many such mentions as we continue working to be the best source of Bad Boy Entertainment related news on the web.

Thank you to Bad Boy for the mention and support and, as always, thank you to everyone who visits and supports us.

I mentioned the Yung Joc mobile trading cards as being featured on the "Hustlenomics" album insert. I thought we'd cover the subject a bit more. The site to sign up is http://cards.yungjoc.com. You sign up (at the site or by texting JOC to 87233 (TRADE)) and get 3 mobile trading cards per week for $1. They are holding a contest to promote it.

People who collect all 40 cards will be entered into a drawing for $1,000 dollars. People who collect all 15 cards in the "Song Lyrics" set get entered into a drawing for a phone call with Joc. And there are 50 random instant winners that will get an autographed Yung Joc poster poster. The contest goes until November 18, 2007. At this time, the top collector, HU$TLENOMiC$, has 21 cards. The second place collector, ciel711, is a ways back at 9.

Newsday, the AP and hellomagazine.com have coverage of Diddy's annual white party.

White was de rigueur. Standing on a railed walkway next to his house, Combs sent home a guest wearing a cream-colored dress, and the Piano Man's wife, Katie Lee Joel, opted to return home when her dress, also a shade of cream, did not meet the expectations of fashion police out front. Even a Rolls-Royce parked in the driveway was white. Other guests included Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Donna Karan and Ashley Olsen.

As I look over the iTunes version of "Hustlenomics", I noticed a bit more than just a different intro. There's two big gaps in the album. The first is with "Hell Yeah" - if you look in the iTunes store, you'll see that it is only 2:20. Diddy's verse is gone and only Joc's first two are in the song. The second gap is "Chevy Smile", where you are only given the first 1:59 of the song. The song fades as Trick Daddy starts his verse. Somehow, these 3 tracks were submitted to iTunes instead of the ones that should have been. Notice that the clean version of the album is how it should be. So, if you purchased the clean version of the album, you're fine.

I contacted someone at the label for comment and was told that they are working on a solution. We'll have more when something happens. Hopefully, those that have already purchased the album will be able to get those tracks.

The intro for the iTunes version of "Hustlenomics" is different from the intro that is on the main CD version (at least, the CD that came with the DVI version). The iTunes one is Block talking while the other one is Joc's dad talking, followed by Joc rapping.

Updating a previous story, from AllHipHop.com:

"As producers of the biopic Notorious, we felt compelled to quell the various false media reports indicating Sean Kingston has landed the coveted role of portraying 'The Notorious B.I.G' in the upcoming film," Wayne Barrow told AllHipHop.com. "The role for B.I.G is 100% open and we are diligently searching for the individual to seize the moment and fill those giant shoes of greatness, everyone is being considered, including Sean Kingston but no one has been chosen."

I just received my copy of the MVI version of "Hustlenomics". It features 2 CDs - the CD for the album and then the MVI CD. Let's talk about what's on the MVI disc.

You are able to listen to all of the songs on the album and export them in a digital format. It includes a section for lyrics for all of the songs. Interestingly, the lyrics it provides for "Hell Yeah" are different than what is actually on the song. They include an intro from Diddy. Here it is:

Yung Joc
Bad Boy South
Block Entertainment
They call me Diddy
It's a family affair
You know when somebody got your back
We got each others backs man
I'm wit my brother he wit me
We wit you too
Check this out
This what this about

And then the chorus starts. The lyrics also place Diddy's verse in the middle of the song as the 2nd verse, rather than at the end as the 3rd verse, as is the case in the song. He also introduces them differently as they have him saying:

Ah yo Joc
You know I'm wit you man
They call me Diddy
Let me talk to 'em

I like the song OK now and all, but if the intro, etc. had been included, I definitely would have liked it more. Yeah, I know, just an intro. But, that's me.

The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle has an interview with Que.

When he heard his name announced as a winner, Mosley said his first thought was of the help he'd now be able to provide his family. "I'm very thankful," he said. "The first thing I'm going to buy is a big house where you can run down the hallway until you get tired."

"And a pool," added his 5-year-old sister Laitiana Williams.
