January is National Mentoring Month. In light of this, Heavy D has written a very nice post about Diddy over at Global Grind, saying that Diddy became a mentor to him.

He also talks about Diddy's struggles and obstacles when he was coming up and how their relationship grew when Heavy D brought a young Mr. Combs everywhere with him. Check it out, it's a good read.

The Sean John blog has details on the "pop up" shop that launched today in Miami. A "pop up" shop is a temporary retail location aimed at taking advantage of some sort of rush in traffic or potential customers.

Miami will play host to the National Football League Pro Bowl on January 31 and the Super Bowl on February 7. Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson and rapper Rick Ross will host events during the store's brief run.

Yesterday, we reported that the official Diddy Beats website had a special offer for pre-orders of the new Diddy inspired headphones. The offer was a sample from Dirty Money's upcoming album, "Last Train to Paris," as well as a limited edition t-shirt.

We also mentioned that Best Buy was now accepting orders, too, but did not have any mention of the pre-order bonuses. Well, I've confirmed with MONSTER, the company responsible for the manufacturing of Diddy Beats, that Best Buy will be providing the very same offer and they have now added pink to their online store. So, you can pre-order from either site and receive the bonuses.

The official Diddy Beats site has launched. As has a special pre-sale offer with Beats by Dr. Dre. If you pre-order one of three colors from them for $149, you'll receive a free t-shirt and a sample from Diddy's next album, "Last Train to Paris." It's unclear what the sample will consist of, but I am attempting to find out.

Best Buy also has the black and white models for pre-order, but does not make any mention of the special t-shirt and sample offer. Update: Best Buy will have the pre-order offer, as well, and has added pink to their lineup.

The product pages on the Diddy Beats site say that the headphones will be available in April. Earlier today, the official Sean John blog suggested they would be available in March.

For the video, "Hangover 2" has been added to the title and it seems to fit as the video is more of a montage of a fun weekend as opposed to a traditional music video.

Earlier this month, Diddy commented from the set of the "Angels (Remix)" music video shoot that Rick Ross sounded like Biggie on the track. Power 105.1's DJ Envy had Ross on and asked him about the comparison.

"That's most definitely big," he said. "But I want New York City to know: I'll never get it twisted. The magic that Notorious B.I.G. created could never be duplicated, you know what I'm saying? But, that most definitely was my mentor, that's who music I wrote to the most. Hearing that come from Diddy himself - that's big, you know what I mean, and it's inspiration to keep making hot music."

"Strobe Lights," the Dirty Money track featured on "I Want to Work for Diddy 2" (listen to a snippet) has leaked online. Like the leak of Cassie's "F*** U Silly," the clip posted online ends abruptly and appears to be unfinished. If both of these leaks are completely unauthorized, this can't be a great day at Bad Boy.

Perhaps the surprise of it is that the version that was leaked features a verse from rapper Lil' Wayne. Diddy mentioned back in October that Wayne would be featured on the upcoming "Last Train to Paris" set.

A new Cassie track featuring Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj has leaked online. It's called "F*** U Silly" and the clip that is out has opening and ending verses from Minaj, but it seems to end abruptly, so it does not appear to be the full track.

Haiti
My prayers and thoughts are with the people of Haiti and everyone affected by this terrible disaster.

What is apparent in times like this is that everything counts, no matter how small. Can you afford to donate $5? $3? $1? If so, that's great. It may be a small amount to you, all on it's own, but coupled with other small amounts, it becomes a big, powerful amount. You can find a list of charities on WhatGives!?

Can't afford to donate? You can still spread the word. The power of online community and social media has afforded everyone a voice if they choose to have one. If you're on Twitter, Facebook, etc.; you have a community of people and connections. Share worthwhile initiatives with them and help bring awareness. It only takes a few moments to send a link or retweet something on Twitter, but it does help.

An acquaintance of mine, Jim Turner of One by One Media, is taking action and has teamed with Cause Media Group, WS Radio and USTREAM to produce the Haitian Assistant Relief Telethon. Jim will be hosting a myriad of guests, including myself, for 24 hours beginning at 9 PM ET today, January 17 (that's 2 AM GMT tomorrow, January 18). You can watch on WhatGives?! and listen on WS Radio. I am scheduled to appear from 12:00 AM ET through 1:00 AM ET.

Update: Post updated to reflect proper start time.

VH1 has an interview with Daniel Orrison, the runner-up on "I Want to Work for Diddy 2."

What’s on the horizon for you?

Right after I filmed the show, I flew to Napa Valley, California, and worked a wine harvest for Chateau Montelena, which is probably the most famous winery in Napa Valley. It was easily the hardest thing I’ve ever done. People would ask me, “How was working for Diddy?” and I’d say, “Not nearly as hard as this wine harvest!” We’d work from 6 in the morning till midnight. It was an incredible opportunity, though. Now, I’ve moved back to New York and accepted a position at Wine&Spirits magazine. I’m also in the process of starting my own business, the Urban Vine. We’re trying to do for wine, food and travel what Lupe Fiasco has done for the combination of skateboarding and hip-hop. We’re taking a real young, urban, hip look at the culinary world and the travel world. It’s an exciting time for me, trying to start something on my own, but I am looking for employment advancements as well.

Ebony may have won "I Want to Work for Diddy 2," but in an interview with VH1, she says that her cursing on the show lost her job as a teacher and she hasn't yet started at Bad Boy (but last year's winners, Mike and Suzanne, hadn't started either at this point, apparently).

I talked to Mike and Suzanne at this point last season and they hadn’t started yet either. Are you worried?

Yeah! I’m unemployed! I lost my job. I taught algebra and coached basketball and football. They said a teacher is a public servant, and the thing that got me was the profanity. That was a violation against our code of conduct, per our teacher handbook. I didn’t find this out until they fired me, but they did so Friday, October 30, which was a few days before the show came on. They said it was bad PR for the school. So I’ve been unemployed ever since, and they also denied my unemployment. This is the most broke I’ve ever been in my life.

Danielle Canada at Hip Hop Wired reports that Fox Searchlight, State Street Pictures and Bad Boy Films have all been sued by billboard model Angelyne, who claims that one of the billboards with her picture on it was featured for 12 seconds in the film, without her permission.

She says that this has caused her a "loss of reputation and standing in the community" and is seeking $100,000 in damages.

Thanks Jonathan for the tip.

The season finale of "I Want to Work for Diddy 2" just finished and Ebony was crowned the winner, given the opportunity to work as an assistant to Diddy at Bad Boy Entertainment. Daniel finished as the runner up after the pair each gave speeches to Diddy, and judges Capricorn Clark, Phil Robinson and Andre Harrell.

For the second consecutive year (see 2008), I've culled my Last.fm listening data in order to map out the songs and artists I listened to most in 2009. Instead of sharing it all in one post, this time I am going to break it up into two and this first post will cover individual songs.

This data takes into account only the top 500 songs from my playlist in the past year, as that is all that Last.fm displays. Where possible, I've linked the song title to Amazon.com where you can purchase the MP3.

Here are the top 25 most played tracks by or featuring a current or former Bad Boy artist:

Check out the clip below for some light-hearted exchanges between Diddy and Rick Ross from the set of the "Angels (Remix)" video shoot. Among other things, Diddy says how Ross is sounding like Biggie on the track and that even D-Roc said it.

Diddy also talks about how Ross got him on his "Puff Daddy s***," causing Diddy to break out a 1995 Gucci jacket. Good stuff.

This track has been floating around for a couple of months at least, but I hadn't mentioned it previously, so I'm sure that there are some Gorilla Zoe fans who may not have heard it. Check out "Hands" by Waka Flocka featuring Zoe on Waka Flocka's MySpace.

Check out our audio player for a track called "Hair Down." It's billed and labeled as Diddy featuring Dawn Richard. But, I have a feeling it could be any number of things, such as Dawn Richard featuring Diddy, or a Dirty Money track or simply a demo of sorts. Diddy has a rap verse toward the end.

The AP and Courtroom News Service report that Christian Casey LLC, the parent company of Sean John, has filed suit against the landlord of Sean John's Fifth Avenue store, claiming that erected scaffolding has made the store front less attractive, having a meaningful impact on sales.

In the filing, Christian Casey seeks a declaration from the court that the landlord, 475 Fifth 09, LLC, was in breach of the lease agreement and damages at trial of at least $2.5 million.
