I wrote last week that Bad Boy did not hold a single ranking on the Billboard charts for the first time since I started tracking their rankings. It turns out that this was incorrect. Whether it was my error or Billboard's, I have no idea, but I apologize for the confusion. Updated rankings have been posted and here are this week's positions:

Top R&B/Hip-Hop Catalog Albums

25. "Ready to Die" by The Notorious B.I.G. (re-entry).

Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

77. "Love Come Down" by Dirty Money (up from 78).
96. "I'm Ill" by Red Cafe (a new high, up from 97).

The Huffington Post has the press release announcing this year's Diddy and Ciroc New Year's Eve get home safe program.

NEW YORK, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- In an unprecedented effort to promote sophisticated celebration this holiday season, the makers of CIROC Ultra Premium Vodka -- the "Official Vodka of New Year's Eve" -- and Sean "Diddy" Combs will provide thousands of New Yorkers and visitors to the city with a chance for a safe ride home on New Year's Eve by helping to pick up Yellow Cab fares.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20081230/NY54910)

In partnership with the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) and E! Entertainment, Diddy and CIROC will distribute thousands of debit cards, valued up to $15, in high-traffic New York City locations for use in one of the city's 13,000-plus taxicabs on New Year's Eve, so adult revelers can get home safely. CIROC and E! Entertainment are further supporting the initiative with a message from Combs currently running on taxicab televisions in New York City through January 1, 2009.

"As the 'Official Vodka of New Year's Eve,' we have a responsibility to remind everyone to get home safely on this most celebratory of nights," said Combs, who entered into a strategic marketing alliance with the spirit brand more than one year ago. "New York is the world's most iconic New Year's Eve city, so let's lead by example and show everyone that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn't just end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely."

"It is always good to see companies like CIROC highlighting the importance of safety and responsibility," added Matthew W. Daus, Taxi and Limousine Commission Chairman. "Social responsibility and the taxicab industry have always gone hand in hand, so we appreciate CIROC's partnership with the industry to ring in 2009 by helping people to celebrate in a thoughtful and intelligent way."

LAist's Tim Hammer has an interview with Diddy from a promotional stop in Los Angeles. They talk about Ciroc, "Last Train to Paris," the beat from Jay-Z's "Where I'm From," which was used on Dirty Money's "Angels" and more.

LAist: In the single "Angels" you use Jay-Z's "Where I'm From" beat. Was that a beat you knew you always wanted to do something with?

Diddy: I always loved that beat. You know it was produced by my team, The Hitmen, for Jay-Z so we had some involvement with the original but it was always a beat that was so hard to me that I wanted to definitely do something with.

While Bad Boy may have come up empty today, singer Ke$ha has a lot to be happy about: her "Tik Tok" is the top record in the U.S., hitting number 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, according to Billboard's Silvio Pietroluongo. The song features a few words from Diddy during it's opening lines. Congrats to her.

For the first time I can remember, since I began covering the Billboard charts on a weekly basis, Bad Boy does not hold a single position on any of the most recent Billboard U.S. album and single charts, which were released today. Probably at least partially due to the lull as things are moved over to Interscope.

Update (12/31/09): I'm not sure what the issue was, but while looking over the 1/9/10 charts, I noticed that there were some Bad Boy tracks listed. Here they are:

Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

78. "Love Come Down" by Dirty Money (down from 63).

97. "I'm Ill" by Red Cafe (debut).

I've decided that today will be old school Bad Boy music day on Twitter. As I listen to old school Bad Boy tracks, I'm going to tweet them out and use the hash tag #oldschoolbadboy. I'll qualify old school as anything released in the first 10 years of Bad Boy releases (1994 through 2003). It can be a track by a Bad Boy artist (current or former) or featuring one, just as long as they were signed to Bad Boy at the time.

I don't know if anyone else will join in, but I'm going to give it a try, anyway. Join me on Twitter @badboyblog.

In an interview with WGCI's UB Rodriguez (listen below), Willie Taylor of Day26 discussed his thoughts on the removal of Qwanell "Que" Mosley from the group. On Friday, Que went public with his end of the situation.

"Y'all seen Making the Band 4, anyway, the last season," Willie explained. "That was true. It was no script to it. It was real. That's how he was acting. And he just carried it on. What people don't know is we almost lost our deal. A lot of stuff we almost lost because of this dude. You can't name a show across the country that I wasn't at. I never missed a show. But, you had shows where Que wouldn't even show up. He changed his number, changed his Twitter. It had discouraged me to the point I was almost going to step out and go solo."

On whether or not he was thinking of going solo: "We had one bad seed who - you know like cancer spreads? It was kinda like cancer. It was like a situation where it could have just tore us all to pieces. At the end of the day, we had our talk, we brought it back in. We owe this to our fans to come back and do this, we owe it to our label, we owe it to everybody to go and make this third album amazing. But, we gotta go in as a unit and we just missing one member who wasn't even trying to communicate with us. So, at the end of the day, any of this stuff could have been resolved via just sitting back and having a conversation. Like if he had just picked up the phone like 'Will, this is what I'm going through, bruh.' I don't even know. Like anybody in the world probably got his number, I don't have it, though. I don't have his number, I don't know his Twitter, I don't know nothing about the dude."

On the USTREAM channel of his new management as a solo artist, Day26's Qwanell "Que" Mosley announced that he has been removed from the group by the other four members, following an extended period of disputes with the group's manager, Screwface of Starstruck Entertainment (watch the video below).

"This situation started back in Making the Band 4," he told the interviewer. "As you guys know, on Making the Band 4, MTV showed me going crazy. But, the real deal - what really happened - was I had a problem with management. He promised me a house. I'm [going to] get personal, tell y'all the truth. He came over to my house and he talked with my mother and my father at our table and he told us to move out of Rochester because I was scared, I was getting threats in my home town. People thought I had made it, they thought I had money. So, I was getting threats of robbery and stuff, so I had to get my family out. I told Screwface, I was like 'yo, man, I don't feel comfortable here. I'm scared for my life, I'm scared for my family's life.'"

"So, he came to my house and talked to my family. He's like 'I got y'all, I got this house in Virginia. Y'all go ahead and sell all y'all stuff, sell the house, I got y'all.' So, my mother sold all of her furniture, we sold all the stuff and when it was time to move, Screwface said the house ain't ready, we can't move in because [of] water damages. And I was like 'huh? Water damages? That don't make sense.' Come to find out, he didn't want me to move in because he said I couldn't afford it. So, my issue came with Screwface, like 'you set me up, you promised me this house and I looked at you as a father."

RealTalkNY shared this video from Tuesday night at LQ Nightclub in New York. In it, Diddy, Dirty Money, Red Cafe and The Lox perform a truncated medley of tracks, including "It's All About the Benjamins (Remix)," "Mo Money Mo Problems," "Love Come Down," "Hottest in the Hood" and more. It's great to see everybody having fun.

As I watched this, a thought dawned on me: one more reason why a one album deal with The Lox would be excellent: it's just in time for the "Last Train to Paris" tour. It'd be cool to see them jump on that and perform the "Benjamins."

On last night's episode of "I Want to Work for Diddy 2," no one was eliminated. The episode centered around the four remaining contestants (Ebony, Daniel, Dalen and Ivory) cooking, organizing and serving a dinner for Diddy, family and associates, including Dawn Richard and Kalenna of Dirty Money and Aasim. The dinner party was held on a yacht.

After the dinner, Diddy singled out Daniel for his performance and allowed him to take the yacht out and have some wine. Daniel was given the opportunity to invite another contestant with him and he selected Dalen.

Nonetheless, when it came time to vote, Dalen voted for him. On Twitter, Dalen said that he and Daniel had already talked and Daniel knew his strategy and said to go ahead and vote for him. Ebony and Ivory voted for Daniel, while Daniel went for Ivory and then selected Ivory to join him in front of the judges. But, the judges felt that Ebony and Dalen should be the ones up there, so they reversed it. In the end, though, everyone was safe.

Red Cafe told Hot 93.7's Jenny Boom Boom (watch the video below) that he and Cassie are both coming with Dirty Money to Bad Boy on Interscope.

This makes sense as Diddy said in November that Red Cafe still wasn't officially signed to Bad Boy, but that they were proceeding as if he was. Since he's not signed, he has no contract with Atlantic Records and, as such, he'd be one of the new artists and any new artists will be on Bad Boy/Interscope.

However, the one interesting detail that Red mentioned was that Cassie would also be coming over to Bad Boy/Interscope. It wouldn't be a shock if Diddy had wanted to take some of his Bad Boy/Atlantic Records artists over to Bad Boy/Interscope and he had worked that out with Atlantic. Assuming this is how it plays out, Cassie may not be alone, either.

The interview is a little hard to watch because it seems like the host didn't do a lot of research. Bad Boy is certainly still a label, they just changed their major label affiliation. Despite reports, Diddy has said that Day26 is still on Bad Boy as are others who were on the roster, but they are just on the Bad Boy/Atlantic roster. Long term, there may be business to work out, but that's where it stands right now.

In interviews with MTV News and Music Mix, Ke$ha talks about how Diddy ended up saying a few words during the opening of her hit "Tik Tok," which is currently #3 on The Billboard Hot 100, the top 100 songs in the country in any genre. She opens the track by saying "Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy." From Music Mix:

EW: What inspired the Diddy reference ["Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy"] in “TiK ToK”?

K: I used to live in this sort-of castle in Laurel Canyon. I woke up one morning surrounded by all of my hot babe friends because they had all crashed after a night out. And I woke up surrounded by babes—it was a total babe-fest—and I thought, “This must be what Diddy feels like every morning.” That was the first line of the song, and I took it in and Dr. Luke liked it.

She told MTV that four hours later, Diddy called Dr. Luke and said that he and Ke$ha should do a song together. Somewhere after that, Diddy agreed to come over and say a few words for her. After the aforementioned line, he says "Hey, what up girl?" and then shortly after that he says "Let's go." That's all from Diddy, but it's a fun little addition to the track. Check out the music video for it below.

Here are Bad Boy's positions on the most recent Billboard U.S. album and single charts, released yesterday. Dirty Money's "Love Come Down" returns to previous highs and maintains current positions.

Songs

Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

62. "Love Come Down" by Dirty Money (a new high, up from 65).

Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay

62. "Love Come Down" by Dirty Money (a new high, up from 65).

Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles

5. "Angels" by Dirty Money (re-entry, a new high).

9. "Love Come Down" by Dirty Money (a new high, up from 22).

Note: Unfortunately, we stopped covering the Hot Videoclip Tracks chart accidentally a while back. When Billboard reorganized their website, they removed the link from the area where it had been and placed it in another section. We'll now attempt to return to coverage of this chart.

During an interview with Kendra G of Philadelphia's 100.3 The Beat (watch below) radio station, Diddy addressed reports that Day26 would be leaving Bad Boy and would be Atlantic Records exclusively. I say reports because that is what they were; not rumors.

"I don't know why that's on the blogs like that," Diddy said when asked if Day26 was off of Bad Boy. "I still have my label deal over at Atlantic. I didn't sell my label. I still have my artists that are over there. From Day26 to Janelle Monae, etc."

"[They are still] part of Bad Boy," he continued. "The Bad Boy imprint will be on there. Unless, Day26 could wake up and say 'we just want the label to say Atlantic.' And that would be cool with me. But, right now, it's Bad Boy and Atlantic. I'm there for them, I'm not abandoning any of the artists over there. I been hearing that a lot on the blogs, but I really don't pay attention to the blogs. I've been hearing it enough to address it; it's not true. I got a great working relationship with Atlantic and we gonna continue we had there; just my future endeavors is gonna be with Jimmy Iovine and Interscope."

I'm planning to write more about this in the future, but it's not "the blogs." Members of the group suggested this was the case and a spokesperson for the group told MTV News that they were in the process of leaving Bad Boy. Statements like this are disrespectful to the work that is done here at Bad Boy Blog and the work that other responsible writers do on their blogs. Blogging is a medium; not a style. I wonder if Diddy lumps all rappers into the same category. And if not, what does he think when other people do it? Just curious.

The Lox to Bad Boy talk continues with Sheek Louch speaking in an interview with On Air Idiots (watch below), Sheek Louch said that The Lox were still talking with Diddy in hopes of bringing their next album to Bad Boy.

"I got an answer for that, I really think I got an answer," Sheek said when asked about the next Lox album and when it would be coming. "I think top of the year, the Lox album is coming. I would love for it to come then, we're working actually with Puff right now, with Sean Combs. We working that out. Hopefully it goes down."

Sheek said that the album would be Bad Boy/Interscope/D-Block/Ruff Ryders. In November, Jadakiss revealed that Diddy had offered the group a one album deal. Diddy himself commented later in the month that he wanted them back, but only for one album.

I don't think this is the confirmation of a deal that SOHH.com thinks it is, because it sounds like they are still negotiating. But, they seem to be getting closer.

Emiene Wright of the South Florida Times reports from a recent promotional stop Diddy made in Miami Beach.

Despite his boardroom success, Diddy can’t seem to leave the stage alone for very long.

“It’s just, once you’ve seen or felt what it feels like to give joy to 70,000 people in a stadium or 5,000 people in a theater—there’s nothing like that. There’s no high like that, there’s no feeling like that in the world. It’s not an addiction, but it’s something that I love to do, and as long as I feel I can do it, well, I’m gonna do it.”

Kelly Bayliss of NBC Philadelphia reports that Diddy will be appearing at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA during radio station Wired 96.5's live broadcast of The Chio in the Morning Show on the morning of December 7.

They're holding the event to encourage area residents to bring in new, unwrapped toys to donate as part of radio host Chio's annual "Christmas Wish" program. Diddy will be helping him grant one wish during the program, according to Bayliss.

So, if you're in the Philadelphia area, bring a toy in and you might meet Diddy. They have some prizes available, as well.

Genice Phillips of The Flat Hat has an interview with Daniel Orrison, one of the remaining five contestants on "I Want to Work for Diddy 2."

After meeting Diddy for the first time, Orrison explained that Diddy’s personality contrasts drastically with how he is portrayed on television.

“Meeting him was so much different than hearing about him,” he said. “There are two sides to Diddy: the mogul and the family man. I got to talk to him on an individual level, and it became different once we started talking. There is an energy that comes from him, and he expects so much of himself and others. It’s been a really amazing opportunity just being in his company.”

Shaheem Reid of MTV News reports that Diddy will serve as a producer on Nelly's upcoming and as yet untitled album. He also mentions that "1,000 Stacks," the Biggie-sampled and Diddy-featured song from Nelly that hit the internet in July will be included on the set. It's unclear if this is the track that Diddy produced.

At the end of November, we shared a report that indicated that Day26 was no longer signed to Bad Boy, but now to Atlantic Records exclusively. This wasn't a total surprise and the reasons why were detailed in that piece.

I'm still working on confirming the finality of this, but MTV News' Shaheem Reid reports that, according to their spokesperson, the group is "in the midst" (Reid's words) of leaving, so it may not be totally finished yet. Still unclear, but it would seem like it's only a matter of time. Stay tuned.

On last night's episode of "I Want to Work for Diddy 2," Melissa was eliminated from the show. She had been sent up to elimination by vote and then selected Jenn to go with her. After deliberations, it was Melissa who's run would end. In the video below, she talks about leaving the show.

During last night's appearance on the Home Shopping Network, Diddy revealed that Sean John is in production on a new women's fragrance. A caller asked him when the female equivalent of I Am King, another Sean John fragrance, would be coming out. Diddy said that they may have to call it something other than "I Am Queen" and that it might be called "Empress."

Earlier this afternoon, I mentioned that DJ/producer Clinton Sparks had revealed Diddy's involvement in an upcoming record titled "Smash the Club." Via Twitter, he told me that the it is actually a Logan de Gaulle record. Logan de Gaulle is the tandem of Sparks and DJ Snake. When asked about additional features, Sparks named Lil' Jon and "another huge guest." Stay tuned.

Toronto based rapper Shaun Boothe has released a rapped unauthorized biography of Sean "Diddy" Combs along with an accompanying video. I usually don't pass this sort of stuff along, but I felt this was particularly well put together. Check it out.

In the video below, DJ/producer Clinton Sparks takes his camera around with him as he visits separate studios to work with Jim Jones and Diddy. There are a couple of notables here: Sparks mentions that he's working with Diddy on a record called "Smash the Club" and Diddy confirms that the video for "Ciroc Star" will be shot in the next 5-6 weeks. The ode to Ciroc by Chester French features Diddy and Sparks alongside Jadakiss.

Warning: explicit content.

VMAN's feature on Diddy is now online. Though a tad cynical, it's worth a read for the quotes from Diddy. Mostly personal stuff; nothing that is particularly newsworthy.
