Update: The video has now been deleted. Probably for the best.

Bleh, this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Let me explain why.

Some people are going to take this as some sort of shot at Diddy or Bad Boy. Maybe it is. Honestly, I'm not sure how to take it, other than to say that they shouldn't have done it.

When I interviewed Day26 last year, some of Que's comments rubbed me the wrong way because his sense of entitlement was a little misplaced. Sense of entitlement is an ugly thing, but when you are a member of a group that has just released it's first album, it's even worse. I get the same feeling here. Just because you would love to be on one of the video show countdowns doesn't mean you will be or should be and doesn't mean that it is anyone's "fault" but your own. There are a lot of artists out there that would love to be.

He says he'd like to meet the President (I'm going to assume he means President-Elect Obama), which would be one of the parts people will feel is directed at Diddy, who campaigned for Obama a bit. Lots of people would like to meet President-Elect Obama. Diddy has done some things with the President because he's Diddy, CEO of Bad Boy and Sean John, multi-platinum selling artist, award winner, actor, designer and so on. Que is a member of Day26, a group that has released one album. Let's not get it twisted here. I like Day26, I'm a fan of Day26. But, just because I'm a fan of Day26 doesn't mean I think they deserve the same level of attention as a megastar. Even if you believe that he's aiming that at Diddy, you also have to realize that Que is one year into this game. Diddy is about 20.

Unless you are Jay-Z, Diddy, Beyonce, etc. you generally have some downtime between albums and that is what they are at right now. It's already been reported that Day26's second album is in the works. On the MySpace of Hen Roc, Bad Boy's National Director of Mixshow/Club Promotions, a third Danity Kane album is listed as coming soon. What is likely is that the next season of Making the Band will see clarity on the Danity Kane group situation, we'll have a new lineup and new albums from Day26 and Danity Kane, and everyone will be happy again. People can get bored during breaks and boredom can lead to idle chatter like this video.

In summation: try not to read too much into this. Take a deep breath, laugh and move on. My hope is that they are joking. Otherwise, this is all very, very tacky and in poor taste. If they are serious about having to shake cans, not having money, etc. consider the insensitivity of that, especially, as there are countless number of people far worse off than them, that don't even have a place to live, let alone designer clothing and a laptop. For every major label artist, like Que or Dawn, there are a thousand others dying for that shot, who would love to be where they are - exactly where they are. Complaining about money, while you're in the situation they are in, given our current economic state... it's just not in the best of taste. It's a disappointing move.

From Reuters:

Warner Music Group ordered YouTube on Saturday to remove all music videos by its artists from the popular online video-sharing site after contract negotiations broke down.

The order could affect hundreds of thousands of videos clips, as it covers Warner Music's recorded artists as well as the rights for songs published by its Warner/Chappell unit, which includes many artists not signed to Warner Music record labels.

It's unclear how this might affect the Bad Boy channel, Diddy channel and other official artist channels. I would guess that it would have no effect, but we'll have to see. I've reached out for comment.
