From a New York Times feature on model/actress Dree Hemingway (great-granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway):
CURRENT OBSESSION: Twitter. My mother turned me on to it. I had no idea what it was, but it’s so fun. You just update your status constantly. I enjoy reading P. Diddy’s. He has the funniest updates. Like: “Women are God’s gift to earth. What are you doing?” I love it.
Brennan Williams of Black Voices reports:
"Ending the Rockefeller Drug Laws is a great victory for the hip-hop community," Russell Simmons said in a statement issued by his rep Jody Miller. "We worked hard, turned up the volume on this issue and rejuvenated and broadened the coalition, but it was hip-hop artists like Diddy, Jay-Z and 50 Cent that gave this movement for change the power to wake people up and to get the politicians to do the right thing."
AllHopHop.com has a track called "Maybe" by Jay-Z featuring Diddy. Honestly, it doesn't really sound like anything. Maybe an interlude. Diddy is talking at the end, I guess - he's sort of hard to here. Just passing it on, though I don't know what to make of it.
Thanks Theo.
The Fredereick News-Post, a newspaper based in Frederick country in Maryland, has a feature on Terrance Welcher, a makeup artist who works for MTV and BET. I thought I'd share this snippet:
He had become a professional makeup artist by the age of 18, after graduating from Frederick High School. He has since done makeup for several celebrities, including Naomi Campbell and Sean "Diddy" Combs.
"My best compliment was when Diddy said, 'You're on my team now' É I'm not, like, a fanatic, but I admire him so much."
It's a nice story.
Over at The Huffington Post, Barry Michael Cooper has released the final fourth part of his "Sean John Combs: Once Upon A Time In America" video series ( watch the first three parts).
In this clip, Diddy discusses using his influence for good, "Vote or Die," getting started in video production with Hype Williams (I had no idea about this) and more. Must watch! Mr. Cooper deserves a lot of praise for his work on this series and for delving down a bit and caring enough to ask about these topics. Diddy's a controversial figure for various reasons, some unfair, but he only rarely ever gets his full due.
Here's the flier for The Main Event II. It's happening on Friday in Miami.
What I thought would just be some promotional stuff turned into a cool video for fans where Diddy briefly touches on the unreleased Diddy dance album, "Divided Soul." Felix credits Diddy for his early forays into dance music.
Just as he did last year, Diddy will be participating in The Main Event, DJing against Felix da Housecat in Miami on March 27 in Miami. Details here.
Diddy now has a Ustream.TV channel, PTWITTYTV. Previously, he had used the Mogulus live streaming service.
The cover for the April 2009 issue of Mixmag, featuring Diddy and Felix da Housecat is on the Mixmag website.
