From MTV News:

When Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls announced she was putting together a solo project a couple of years ago, the leggy starlet had plenty of collaborators lining up to work with her, including Diddy...

... Diddy's participation is still unclear.

Diddy is highlighted in a new article at Entrepreneur.com talking about what entrepreneurs can learn from the rap industry.

As Notorious B.I.G. sang, 'If you don't know, now you know.' Find out what entrepreneurs can learn from the rap game. ...

Diddy. Warren Buffett. Jay-Z. Bill Gates. You don't normally think of rap artists like Diddy and Jay-Z in the same league as legendary entrepreneurs like Buffett and Gates, but you should.

Here's the best fan video I've seen so far of the performance:

Check out Diddy's performance at BET ON BLAST. It's up on YouTube, but I don't think those clips do it justice because of the audio and video quality, so check the one on BET ON BLAST out. It's great, except for those fools at the beginning yelling "he's ugly" (I think?). Edit: Maybe it was "East Dublin"? lol. No idea. It's "Knock Out Performances". And check out my thoughts from last night.

The BET Awards 2007 just ended. So, of course, I'm going to do a recap from the Bad Boy perspective.

In the opening sequence, they introduced those featured and an assortment of them received extended sequences where their music played. Diddy was one of those with "Last Night" playing.

Diddy and Keyshia Cole performed an incredible rendition (different beginnings and endings) of "Last Night". Mario was on the drums, I believe. Keyshia sang live with Diddy lipsyncing, as should probably be expected. I mean, it would have been cool to see him do it live, but I don't know how realistic that is.

When I was watching those intros, I saw that Lil' Kim was mentioned and thought "maybe she'll come out for the Last Night remix." Sure enough! She came out half way through the set and did the first verse from the Last Night remix.

Diddy and Keyshia killed it. Honestly, Kim's part was probably the weakest. She was off - her vocals were too low. But, Diddy, Kim and Keyshia did this sort of back and forth where they are vying for Diddy's attention and it was cool to watch, for sure.

The ending was very strong with Diddy being joined by a choir chorus of sorts singing parts of the song with Keyshia to his right and Kim to his left (not right next to him, but near) with his platform rising as the performed came to a close, with Diddy putting a 1 in the air.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, but anyone can say what they want to say about Diddy - he knows how to perform. He's a perfectionist and it shows. If anyone wants to know how to perform, they should watch videos of Diddy.

Anyway, after it was over, they were showing applause from the crowd... 50 Cent was definitely enjoying it. Flavor Flav was, as well.

Unfortunately, Diddy came up empty on the award side of things. The award for best "Hip Hop Artist" was given to T.I. while "Best Collaboration was given to Ludacris and Mary J. Blige.

Edit: One thing that I neglected to mention last night was that T-Pain came out and did a 1 minute performance of "Buy U A Drink (Shawty Snappin')", but did not bring out Yung Joc (it was a mini performance, like I said, so that was probably why). But, his name and voice were kept in the song.

From the Los Angeles Times:

Only one awkward moment emerged during Prince's forays into the crowd. He approached the daunting bunch on what could have been dubbed the "hip-hop power couch" — it included Diddy, Death Row Records founder Suge Knight, Erykah Badu and Nas, among others — and tried to hand the microphone to Nas.

The rapper declined to ad-lib, however, simply muttering, "I love Prince," and handing back the hot potato. Prince then tried to work his charm on Badu; she gave up a half-hearted rhyme about sisterhood, but it fizzled out. About half of those seated on the couch then abruptly departed (although Nas and Badu both stayed).

Diddy... sitting next to... Suge Knight? That's more than a little weird. I wouldn't go running with it or anything, of course. They've both been in the same place before. But, I've e-mailed the writer of the story for more details.

Update: I already heard back from Ms. Powers. She said that from her vantage point, they appeared to be sitting a couple of people away from each other. She did not see them converse, however.

I just watched one of the behind the scenes clips. It was part of an MTV News segment. Not much was there... a few quick shots, including Diddy and Mario together. It also featured some of the video from MTV.com where Diddy says Cassie hasn't been dropped He goes onto say that Cassie is going to be a spokesmodel for Sean John Womens (as mentioned) and that he'll look to tour the U.S. this fall (he's just looking for the right package). He finished with this:

I pride myself on being one of the artists - one of the only artists - that really knows how to party the hardest. I party the hardest and the longest and it's no better place to show off that talent than Las Vegas. Only the strong will survive in Vegas and the weak shall parish and I challenge any recording artist out there - it's a challenge - I don't care who it is. If you think you can really get busy on the partying, let's do it.
