Executive produced by Diddy and Hezekiah Walker of the Love Fellowship Tabernacle; "Thank You" was going to be Bad Boy's first gospel album. At one time, it was scheduled for release on June 5, 2001. But, it was never released. So, let's take a look at what might have been. For reference, I am including an old press release from Arista at the end of this article.
According to that release, this was the planned track listing:
1. "Intro".
2. "I Love You (Interlude)" by Vickie Winans and Mario Winans.
3. "You" by Faith Evans, 112, Carl Thomas, Mario Winans, Thelma Guyton, Asia & Ashley, Cheri Dennis, Tammy Ruggeri and Hezekiah Walker.
4. "Special Place" by Kim Burrell.
5. "I'm Thankful (Interlude)" by Hezekiah Walker.
6. "Thank You" by Kelly Price featuring Hezekiah Walker and The Love Fellowship Choir.
7. "I Know Now" by Brandy.
8. "Running Back to You" by Brian McKnight.
9. "Something's Changed" by 112.
10. "Brighter Day" by John P. Kee featuring Faith Evans.
11. "I Love Him" by Thelma Guyton.
12. "By Faith" by Fred Hammond.
13. "You The Man" by Joe.
14. "As Long As I've Got You" by Mary Mary.
15. "Outro".
Faith Evans, 112, Carl Thomas, Thelma Guyton, Asia & Ashley and Tammy Ruggeri were all Bad Boy artists. Mario Winans and Cheri Dennis still are, of course.

According to Bad Boy, The Notorious B.I.G. placed number 39 in Time Out Magazine's "Top 50 Greatest NY Musicians".
A couple days ago, there were some pictures posted online of Justin (Diddy's oldest son at 12) dancing rather ... well, provacatively... with some older women. Obviously, a story that gossip sites dream about. I held off on mentioning it as I wanted to see where the story led and how it was substanciated. So, here is a story from EURweb.com including quotes from Justin's mom, Misa Hylton.
Responding to the photos, Hylton told New York’s Hot97 gossip girl Miss Info that the lapdance happened at a teen party in New Jersey, neither she nor Diddy were in attendance and they do not condone the behavior at all.
Hylton also said that she fired the security team that was supposed to be watching Justin that night, citing negligence.

News on the new Dearlove case: a British court has ruled that the lyric "mainline that Diddy heroin" from "The Future" on "Press Play" is a violation of the deal they had previously agreed to.
However, the judge also found that "record companies" were responsible for the content of Diddy's MySpace and YouTube pages and since record companies were not part of the claim, the matter couldn't be considered. The article mentions the next scheduled legal proceeding:
The extent of Combs' control over the content of the MySpace and YouTube sites will now be the subject of a full High Court trial scheduled for October, unless attempts at a compromise between the two sides are successful.
From Charleston Daily News:
Sean "Diddy'' Combs was accused of battery at a Hollywood hotel the day of the Academy Awards, police said.
Police took a report from someone who accused Combs of battery at the famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Sunday, said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman, on Tuesday.
Not too much is know right now. We'll have to see how the story develops.
Bad Boy has this list, ending with the release of his sophomore album, "Hustlenomics".

The rap mogul-turned-style guru admits his worst habit is leaving clothing where it falls when he's at home, and he wishes he could be more considerate towards the people he pays to clean up after him.
He tells Blender magazine, "No matter where I'm at, I don't hang up my clothes. I'm a nightmare for my maid.

The rapper reveals to Maxim magazine, "I don't have a problem with fur, but I have gotten an education on it, and to be honest, I wear less (fur) than I did.
"PETA has had an effect on me... I am not saying that we won't do fur, but if we do, we will make sure the animal wasn't tortured."
The 8 Ball & MJG section has been updated at Bad Boy Online. The new copy features some information on the album. A sample:
Highlights on the disc include “Cruzin’,” an outstanding R&B collaboration with Slim from ATL’s 112 and Three 6 Mafia, the bluesy “Runnin’ Out of Bud” with Killer Mike and the steamy track “Take It Off” featuring Poo Bear. Jazze Pha adds his smooth R&B flavor to “Pimpin’ Don’t Fail Me Now,” and Yung Joc heats up the hot party track “Clap On.” “Memphis,” an impassioned track produced by B Rock and featuring Al Kapone, is a well-constructed gem that finds the duo paying homage not only to their hometown but to their musical legacy as well. They vividly recount their life experiences and give props to other cities that have impacted their lives over the years.
Making this CD was easy for Eightball & MJG. As always, they knew what they wanted to say and went into the studio and said it. Their approach to making music is purely organic. “We don’t procrastinate on it because it’s not meant to be if you’ve gotta do all that,” MJG reasons. “You know that old saying, ‘You study long, you study wrong.’ That’s what we go by.”

AOL First Listen has the two "unreleased" (both were featured as Target bonus tracks for "Duets: The Final Chapter") songs from "Greatest Hits". They are "Running Your Mouth" featuring Snoop Dogg, Foxy Brown, Fabolous, Nate Dogg and Busta Rhymes and "Want That Old Thing Back" featuring Ralph Tresvant and Ja Rule.
The site has the following quote, speaking in regard to "Running Your Mouth":
"Towards the end of working on the 'Biggie Duets' album, we found these lyrics at the end of an old Biggie reel that was never used before."

I just thought that I would post a reminder: this is your last chance to suggest questions for the Jerome Childers interview which is happening tomorrow. So, if there is anything that you'd like me to ask them, please let me know. Thanks.
I just heard that Bad Boy is set to launch (today, apparently) an online memorial to The Notorious B.I.G. March 9, 2007 will mark 10 years since he passed.
The site isn't online, yet, and I'm not sure what the domain will be. Although, it might be http://www.biggiegreatesthits.com, a domain which is owned by Warner Music. If that is the case, it would seem that the site will also serve as promotion for the upcoming "Greatest Hits" release.
Here are Bad Boy's positions in this week's Hot 100:
42. "Last Night" by Diddy (a new high, up from 51).
53. "Tell Me" by Diddy (up from 54).
"Last Night"'s spot makes it the second highest charting single off of "Press Play" moving it ahead of "Tell Me"'s high of 47.
Diddy is in at 100 on this week's Billboard 200, selling 10,800 copies (a gain from last week), bringing his total up to 531,100.
This song, from their upcoming album, has been added to their MySpace page.
You can listen to it on Diddy's MySpace.
Updating a previous story, the BadBoyRecords YouTube account has been re-instated and the videos are back online. No word on what the issue was... very well could have been some sort of mixup.
In honor of the recent passing of Ahmet Ertegün, the latest issue of Billboard Magazine highlighted Atlantic Records' Top 50 highest charting albums. Coming in at #50? "Danity Kane".
From The New York Daily News:
"This rumor is absolutely untrue. I am not taking Sean [Combs] back to court," she told us.
And she resents being portrayed as a jealous former lover.
"Sean and I have always maintained a cordial and friendly relationship for the benefit of our son, despite what has been reported in the press," she insists.
Nelson will be touring in Germany. Dates have not been announced, yet, but stay tuned to the tour site for updates. We'll try to post them here, as well, of course.

New York Magazine has a brief interview with Sysan Batson, an acting coach that has taught Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and - yes - Diddy, among others. Here is what she had to say:
You trained P. Diddy for A Raisin in the Sun, after his inert performance in Monster’s Ball. Can you teach anyone to act?
If you know who I said “Don’t bother sending” to agents … Sean I could teach because the man has integrity, is very, very gifted, and is very smart. You have to have talent. Otherwise I really can’t work with you.
The New York Times has an article on interludes where Ryan Leslie talks about the fact that, while they recorded interludes for the album, it was decided to go interludeless.
But Ryan Leslie, a Bad Boy Records collaborator who produced the No. 1 R&B hit “Me & U” for Cassie last summer, decided not to include interludes on Cassie’s self-titled debut album, which he also produced, even though several had been recorded. “Until we can train a new generation to get into the full creative vision of the artist, the need for interludes may be diminishing,” Mr. Leslie said. But “once we get people to say, ‘O.K., this artist is much more than a song,’ like with a Stevie Wonder, I think you’ll see a resurgence.”
If you try to access the Bad Boy Records YouTube account, you are shown the following message:
This user account is suspended.
The BadBoyRecords account is still showing up in my favorites, but with 0 videos. Was it suspended by YouTube? Did Bad Boy request the closure in response to Richard Dearlove's recent accusations (that'd be kind of lame, to be honest)? We can only hope that it is temporary as it'd be a shame to lose the posted content.
Edit: Actually, a lot of the content is on MySpace Videos.
The Notorious B.I.G. graces the cover of the February 2007 issue of The Source.
Errol Louis at the New York Daily News did an article on G. Dep:
Dep sat down to talk with me last week — two days after getting released from jail — about the ups and downs that took him from the top of the music charts to a cell on Rikers Island. ...
I could hardly believe the quiet, wary man across the table from me was the same G. Dep who made the hip-hop classic "Special Delivery," which carried an infectious beat and a video that introduced the world to the wiggly dance called the Harlem Shake. ...
When I met him, Dep had just spent 23 days on Rikers after a Jan. 15 arrest for grabbing and breaking a display-model cell phone during an argument with a T-mobile salesman in a Manhattan store. Dep's bail was only $750, but he stayed in Rikers because he couldn't raise the cash — a sign of how far he'd tumbled since the heyday of the Harlem Shake. ...
I feel sorry for G. Dep. I like a lot of the music he produced at Bad Boy and it's unfortunate to see it work out like this.

I was just reading the Wikipedia entry for " It's All About the Benjamins" and I saw this:
The song originated from a mixtape debuted by DJ Clue. This version of the song only featured Puff Daddy and the rap act The Lox (excluding Styles P).
Wondering where that came from, a Google search led me to this MTV article:
Besides shedding the first light on some of rap's biggest hits, like the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy," the original version of Puff Daddy's "It's All About the Benjamins" and Jay-Z's "Ain't No N---a," Clue also gave the first dose of major exposure to some of today's biggest stars like Noreaga, Cam'ron, DMX, Fabolous, Mase, Ja Rule and the LOX via freestyles.
Next week, we'll be interviewing former Bad Boy artist Jerome Childers. Better known as Jerome or Lil' Jerome, his biggest mark was made on the single " Too Old for Me" off of "Bad Boy Greatest Hits, Volume 1". The track was remixed into the "Shorty & Nore Remix" which featured N.O.R.E. and Diddy and was given a video. There was also an "R&B Remix".
He was also featured on the Belly soundtrack with "Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer". Two lesser known singles, "No Disturb Sign" (featuring Heavy D and Diddy) and "Dear Ivette" were also released.
We'll be asking him about his time at Bad Boy as well as his departure. We'll also find out what he's been doing since then and what he's up to in the present. If you have any suggested questions, please feel free to let me know, via e-mail or comment on this entry. Thanks.
That's what Robin Leach is saying:
LUXE LIFE has just learned and can exclusively report that the mogul rapper has hired a helicopter from Rebel Helicopters here in Las Vegas for Saturday night and plans to fly high above the new Fantasy Tower at The Palms, the official host hotel of the All-Star Game and make his entrance by repelling into the opened retractable roof of the new Moon nightclub located at the top of the tower.
Greensleeves Records, the record label behind Elephant Man's first three albums, will be releasing Monsters of Dancehall: Elephant Man.
This is the ESSENTIAL Elephant Man album, which draws together all the BIG tunes from the self-proclaimed 'Energy God'. Prior to his recent signing to P Diddy's Bad Boy label and before his Atlantic album 'Good To Go', Greensleeves' released three Elephant Man albums: 'Comin' 4 You!', 'Log On' and 'Higher Level'. It was these albums that propelled Elephant Man to a worldwide audience and the tracks featured on this compilation come from that period. Most of which, have never appeared on an album before.

Not much is out there on one of Bad Boy's most recent signees, Baltimore rapper LOS. To fix that, we thought we'd sit down with him and get to know him a bit.
Before he was with Bad Boy, he was with Da Bloc, Inc., along with Skarr Akbar and D.R.O.P.
Where does the name LOS come from?
It’s actually my original name. It’s a nickname that’s been with me forever. People in my family call me LOS. That’s my name for real, it’s not made up, it’s not an acronym.
What’s it short for?
Carlos.

Read it here. He talks about the industry, how he hooked up with Bad Boy and worked his way up, among other things.
Shay: Oh your welcome Hen-Roc thank you as well. What Bad Boy artists should we be on the look out for? Which artists currently have projects out and on deck and when and where can we obtain said ear lovelies?
Hen-Roc: Aiiight currently in stores we got Yung Joc (certified platinum), Danity Kane (certified platinum), we got Cassie (gold album), we have Diddy (platinum album) in stores right now. We got that new Diddy video which is about to drop “Last Night” featuring Keisha Cole·
Shay: ohhhhhhhh man ok ok!
Hen-Roc: ····..hot hot hot record!! It is buzzing all around the clubs on your radio stations and everything. Look forward this year to a new Boyz N Da Hood album, B-5, Cheri Dennis, 8-Ball & MJG, Biggie’s Greatest Hits coming out, you know, definitely a lot of new things coming out of Bad Boy, Bad Boy South. Bad Boy Latino too, we have this artist named Christian Daniel, so definitely check em out!
As far as the last issue of Billboard, "New Joc City" hadn't been certified platinum, so I'm not sure if that is the case.

From People:
... But the three-time winner did forget to thank the two music powerhouses who first helped put her on that stage: Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell and her first producer, Sean "Diddy" Combs. Uh, oops! ...
"... One of those people was Puffy. Our chemistry together really created the beginning of this whole big hip-hop soul thing that is happening right now. The way they dress. The way they speak. All of the songs they write. It all came from what Puff and I had put together."
Not that big a deal. I mean, yeah, it's a pretty huge omission in the scheme of her career, but everyone's human. Congrats to her on the victories.

The "latest designs" from Sean John will be featured at the HOT 97 Full Frontal Hip Hop Show on March 8. You can buy tickets in an exclusive pre-sale at hot97.com until Friday at 10:00 AM.
I'll be interviewing Bad Boy artist LOS tomorrow. Do you have a question for him? Please let me know and, if possible, I'll ask it. Thanks.
Well, maybe it's too late now, with the album coming out March 6, but they could still do it. It being making a video for "Running Your Mouth" one of the two "unreleased" tracks on "Greatest Hits". The fact is, they were released by Bad Boy as a Target exclusive bonus for "Duets: The Final Chapter". I have them. But, most people don't. For those that don't know, the song features verses from Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, Foxy Brown and Snoop Dogg with Nate Dogg on the chorus.
Add Biggie and you have a track that will have at least something for a bunch of people. So, why not make it the first (and probably only) single? Put out a video. I'm sure it would help sales. Would it help them enough to negate the cost of making the video? Not sure. But, hey, I'd like to see it!
Here are Bad Boy's positions on the latest Hot 100 chart:
51. "Last Night" by Diddy (a new high, up from 64).
54. "Tell Me" by Diddy (up from 55).
93. "1st Time" by Yung Joc (debut).
On The Billboard 200 chart this week, "Press Play" falls just 2 spots to 118.
Congratulations to Danity Kane and Yung Joc, who have been named as nominees in the 21st Annual Soul Train Music Awards. They will be held on March 10 in Los Angeles. Here are the categories to look for:
Best R&B/Soul Album, Group, Band or Duo
"Danity Kane" by Danity Kane
Best R&B, Soul or Rap New Artist
Yung Joc
Best R&B, Soul or Rap Dance Cut
"It's Goin' Down" by Yung Joc featuring Nitti

So, the press release for the "Greatest Hits" release has been making rounds. They are really going to release a "greatest hits" collection without one of Biggie's two #1 songs. I don't know how that happens. I really don't.
At any rate, here are some quotes from the release:
"Christopher Wallace was more than an artist, he was my friend," said Bad Boy CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs. "The Notorious B.I.G., as most knew him, was a rapper, a story teller, and a prolific poet. However, many didn't have a chance to see the Father, Husband, and Man that I knew. Through his words, persona, life, and music, he was able to open doors and create opportunities for Hip-Hop as a whole. I wanted to celebrate his legacy, life, and work as we mourn his senseless death 10 years ago. The release of 'Greatest Hits' makes it clear to the world why the Notorious B.I.G. is the greatest rapper of all time."
"It's time to celebrate the legacy of the Best that ever did it," said Bad Boy Executive VP and General Manager Harve Pierre. "We realize just how connected fans remain to his classic work and wanted to issue a 'Greatest Hits' to celebrate the life of Christopher Wallace. We'll always love Big Poppa and are forever thankful for what he has done for the Bad Boy family and Hip-Hop culture."
More on the party, from AllHipHop.com:

I'm not sure how old these are, but they can't be that old - Bad Boy recently put out two promotion dance mix CDs. One is for Tell Me and features the following mixes: Mr Mig Club Mix, DJ Frank Lamboy Club Mix, DFA Club Mix, Pull Extended Mix and DFA Club Mix w/o Diddy. See a picture here.
The other one, simply titled "Bad Boy Dance Mixes" features 3 mixes of Me & U, 2 mixes of Come to Me, 3 mixes of Show Stopper and 3 mixes of Long Way 2 Go. See a picture here.

VH1.com has an article on the New York auditions for Making the Band 4:
The "Making the Band 4" auditions — this time Diddy's looking for a show-stopping male quartet — may not get the frenzied attention the "American Idol" tryouts receive, but that doesn't mean they aren't just as entertaining.
The New York leg certainly was, and the same could prove to be true at the casting calls scheduled for Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Tuesday in Washington, D.C. (Scroll below for more information on the Charlotte and D.C. auditions.)

From AllHipHop.com:
Block Entertainment rapper Yung Joc has been tapped to star in a new national ad campaign promoting Rockport's Established 1971 collection.
Roger Friedman:
It didn’t help that Sean "Diddy" Combs’ album, "Press Play," upon which millions were spent, was a total dud. Even though critics loved it, and the single “Last Night” can be heard in every club and at every party, the album barely went gold. In the past, Combs’ albums sold millions.
Warner spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 million to go into business with Combs on his Bad Boy Entertainment after it was dropped by the Universal Music Group.
Combs did have a couple of minor hits last year with his acts, but nothing on the scale of his former successes.
Now, I've dealt with Friedman before. You have to keep in mind that "Celebrity Gossip" is in the title of the page. That's his style of writing. Very well.
So, with that style, I often don't bother mentioning it. But, since he's at FOXNews.com and since I'm in the right mood, I guess you could say (and it's a slow news day), let's give it a go.

This is a week old, but worth reading, anyway.
Rarely in hip-hop do you see someone coming out clean-cut, positive and having fun. Do you think that’s helped with your success?
Definitely. I had a different sound and a different look. I wasn’t the average dope boy or thug, so it kind of helped. “He’s not wearing what everybody’s wearing. He’s hot.” It draws people in, and that’s what helps create a movement. A lot of people consider me the Southern Ma$e. But before he was Ma$e…
He was Murder Ma$e.
Exactly. So there was another element. Just because you don’t see it now doesn’t mean it don’t exist. The different elements are there, but what I reflect… I don’t wanna portray all those images, so I don’t define myself in one. I used to sell dope. I did all that s***. Don’t just think I’m a good boy. I know better now. I’m a grown man now. I got kids. This s*** is for real to me. I’m really living my dream right now. All that dumb s*** is in the past.
From XXLMAG.com:
The documents recently surfaced when Mack included them in a motion challenging the unrelated conviction for bank robbery he is currently serving time for. Philips writes that the police records disprove several aspects of Poole’s theory including the notion that Mack had a shrine to Tupac in his garage, and that he offered another officer a job working security for Knight. Much of the information that Poole used to build his theory came from two other LAPD detectives, Brian Tyndall and Greg Grant. Grant has since retired and Tyndall now heads a task force created last year to reinvestigate the murder.
From Hello! Magazine:
Rapper and record executive P Diddy does not usually come across as being particularly sentimental, but as exclusive photos in the latest edition of HELLO! magazine reveal, he certainly has a soft centre. The New York Times has a write up on Cassie.
After a fall tour of Japan, she returned home to New London for Christmas. Within days, she jetted off to Paris, where she performed on “Hit Machine,” France’s answer to “T.R.L.” Currently, she is preparing for a spring tour of Africa and Dubai, and making inroads toward recording a follow-up to “Cassie” in New York.
From SOHH.com:
Sean 'Diddy" Combs and Jay-Z are reportedly in negotiations with Comcast to launch a Video On Demand channel with urban themed programming.
And from the New York Post:
That would explain why hip-hop stars Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs, along with Harvey and Bob Weinstein, were spotted at the cable operator's massive Market Street compound in Philadelphia last week. One source familiar with the meeting said it was both a getting-acquainted session and a chance to bounce around ideas about urban programming.
Once again, DJ Richard "Diddy" Dearlove, who may end up being best known for suing Diddy, has filed suit.
Richard "Diddy" Dearlove says that Combs has breached an earlier undertaking not to use the name "Diddy" in Britain, because people there can see Combs' pages on the international MySpace and YouTube sites where he appears as "Diddy."
"We want him either to use a neutral name like P. Diddy or to shut them down," said Iain Purvis, Dearlove's lawyer at the High Court in London where the case is being heard.
Are MySpace and YouTube "international" websites? Generally speaking, websites are considered to be based where they are physically hosted and are held to the laws of that country. I am under the impression that both MySpace and YouTube are hosted in the U.S. Whether or not they can be accessed in the U.K. is unimportant. A person from the U.K. can buy CDs released in the U.S., if they so choose. That is inevitable.
I may very well be missing something, but he seems to want the courts in the U.K. to apply U.K. law to U.S. based websites. Of course, there are extenuating circumstances, such as Google and FOX (the owners of YouTube and MySpace) having business in the U.K., I'm sure, that may or may not affect it.
Diddy and co. seem to be making adjustments to both pages to compromise, perhaps as part of negotiations (just guessing?). For example, when you visit his YouTube page, you see:
UK USERS MUST VISIT:
www.youtube.com/pdiddy
The link is to an alternate account at YouTube where it says P. Diddy instead of Diddy.
And, his MySpace page now has a large banner at the top saying that U.K. users "MUST CLICK HERE". It takes you to an alternate MySpace profile where, again, it's P. Diddy instead of just Diddy.
It's all a little loopy, when you think about it, but if it leads to the issue being over, it may be worth it.
