The Facebook page of Paul Wilmot Communications, who counts Sean John among their clients, has a scan from the October 27 issue of Women's Wear Daily, discussing the growing retail space will has been and will be afforded in Macy's stores, with whom it has an exclusive distribution agreement.
A 2,000 square foot area, in a prime location, was just unveiled at Macy's Herald Square in New York, New York. Last month, a similarly themed, though smaller, space in Macy's Union Square flagship store in San Francisco. Macy's plans to have 10 more of these newly enhanced in-store shops launched in 2012.
Furthermore, Sean John has announced a licensing deal with SJ Retail LLC, which was founded and will be run by Bob Hyde, who previously was in charge of retail operations at Crocs. Under the terms of the 20 year contract, SJ Retail will acquire the leases of the eight Sean John outlet stores, including the existing inventory, and will be required to open 3 stores a year for each of the next 10 years.
At least some of these new stores are expected to be full price retail stores, as opposed to outlet stores. At this time, Sean John only has one full priced retail store - a location in Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport, which will not be run by SJ Retail.
