BallerStatus.com has an interview with producer Shorty B where he talks a little bit about working with Biggie.

And multi-platinum he has been. Producing on 11 albums that went gold or platinum in the 90s -- including Short's Shorty The Pimp, Cocktails, Get In Where You Fit In, and Spice 1's Amerikkka's Nightmare, as well as the "Juice" and "Menace II Society" soundtracks. Shorty B was one of the few to work with both Death Row Records and Bad Boy Records during the famous East Coast vs. West Coast wars. "We had a studio out here in Atlanta, and Biggie came through one day. We all sit down and smoked a little weed together and sh**. After a little while, Short say he going to the studio because he wanted me to let Biggie hear some beats. We went in the studio and I let Biggie hear some beats. Then Lil Kim showed up at the studio. So I played this beat and she absolutely fell in love with it. It ended up on the 'Booty Call' Soundtrack as 'Call Me'.

Update (12/30/08): Listen to "Letter to B.I.G." now.

Def Sounds has a quick interview with Def Jak A&R Lenny S, discussing Jadakiss' upcoming album. "He’s got a record on there called 'Letter To B.I.G.' and he’s telling B.I.G. everything that has happened since he’s been gone. Very hot," he said.

MTV picks up on a part of tomorrow's Chuck Phillips story that had been neglected: he claims that Biggie knew, as well.

Los Angeles Times journalist Chuck Philips has more surprising allegations concerning musical icons Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. (born Christopher Wallace) and Sean "Diddy" Combs. In an article that the Times will be publishing Monday morning (March 17), Philips alleges that Combs and Wallace were aware, a week in advance, that Tupac would be ambushed in the 1994 shooting at New York's Quad Recording Studios, two years before he was shot and killed in Las Vegas.

"They were advised in advance of what was going to happen," Philips told MTV News on Saturday. "They did not know the assailants were going to be shooting. In fact, [the assailants] were told no shooting. But Tupac pulled a gun, and it went haywire. It was supposed to be a severe beating."

SOHH.com reports on a Biggie tribute track released by rapper H.B. (Hav Boy) Monte in honor it being 11 years since Big passed.

The track features Biggie vocals on the chorus and contributions from 50 Cent, Bizzy Bone, Maino, Chingy, Monte, Bobby Valentino and Chris Notez. 50's contribution is on the intro where he starts with "Yeah, what up, Big? It's your main man, 50 Cent". I'm going to choose to look at this as a term of endearment as a fan rather than anything else. Overall, it's a cool track.

The New York Daily News reports that the most important casting decisions for the upcoming Biggie biopic have been made. Brooklyn rapper Gravy will play Biggie. This isn't a surprise by any means as his name has been mentioned time and time again by various writers.

Angela Bassett will play Voletta Wallace, as previously rumored. Also of note, Anthony Mackie will play 2Pac and Diddy will be portrayed by Derek Luke. You can get a better look at Mackie and Luke on their IMDB pages: Derek Luke, Anthony Mackie.

From AOL's Black Voices blog:

Sources close to the forthcoming biopic, 'Notorious,' the life story of late rapper The Notorious B.I.G. (real name: Christopher Wallace), tell me that Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett ('What's Love Got To Do With It') has been cast to play the late rapper's mother Voletta Wallace. Bassett, who'll next star in 'Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns,' is apparently the first officially person cast in the George Tillman Jr.-directed feature film.

I've requested confirmation on this story. Until I get it, I'd treat it with a degree of suspicion.

From the Los Angeles Daily News:

At a hearing this morning, U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper said she will issue a final order sometime soon that may formally add Death Row Records executive Marion "Suge" Knight and disgraced ex-LAPD Officer Rafael Perez, among others, as defendants. ...

"Plaintiffs have presented evidence that indicates Perez was on duty the night of the murder and may have been at the scene of the crime in an official capacity," Cooper wrote in her tentative order, issued Friday.

One of the first articles that was posted here at Bad Boy Blog was about a court case revolving around an uncleared sample used on the song "Ready to Die". The case was appealed and a judge rules on October 17 to uphold the initial decision, according to AllHipHop.com.

Later in 2006, a new version of the album "Ready to Die" with this, and another sample removed, was released.

The article notes that the judge found that the publishing company, Bridgeport, is entitled to 25% of the new copyright to the song and that both parties are expected to negotiate, so that the song can be re-released.

On October 25 at 11:00 AM, a wax figure of The Notorious B.I.G. will be unveiled at Madame Tussauds New York. Ms. Wallace will be on hand for the festivities, which will feature 23 Brooklyn High School of the Arts students singing "I'll Be Missing You" and "I'll Fly Away".

The Biggie likeness is dressed in a white three pice suit with a white hat and white shoes and stands with one hand on a gold and wood cane. To make the figure, the artists carefully reviewed hundreds of photos and hours of video to ensure it's accuracy.

It will have it's own room on the ninth floor. When you approach it, you are able to break multi-colored rays of light that will then cue a Biggie song to play.

Madame Tussauds is located 234 West 42nd Street in Manhattan.
