The intense season winds down but doesn’t cool off. The dramatic “Making The Band 4” season finale will span from the streets of NYC to the sun-drenched beaches of Cabo. This season, media mogul Diddy, continued to show his chart topping artists Danity Kane and Day26 why he’s one of the best in the business, while guiding and developing solo artist Donnie Klang. Viewers were able to witness first hand the growth of Danity Kane’s Aubrey, Dawn, Shannon, D Woods and Aundrea and share in the success of their second album WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE which spawned the hit summer anthem “Damaged.” Fans got up close and personal with rising stars Day26 as their first self titled album climbed the charts. The excitement continued when long time show choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson “boom-kaked” her way back on the show after her dramatic blow-up with Diddy more than a year ago, surprising everyone including the man himself. Laurie Ann managed to whip Day26 in shape giving them the skills to perform like real stars. From Aubrey and Diddy’s constant power struggles to Brian and Laurie Ann’s creative differences this wouldn’t be “Making The Band” without the drama.

MTV TEAMS UP WITH SEAN COMBS AND MARK BURNETT TO SEARCH FOR NEXT AMERICAN MUSIC SUPERSTAR WITH NEW REALITY SERIES "STARMAKER"

New York, New York – September xx, 2008 – MTV teams up with entertainment powerhouse Sean Combs and revolutionary, Emmy Award winning producer Mark Burnett for the brand new reality series "StarMaker." The new series will set out to find the next history making superstars. MTV and Sean Combs have been developing "StarMaker" since fall of ’07 and made the decision to bring Mark Burnett on board this spring. "StarMaker" is greenlit for January 2009.

"StarMaker" will showcase aspiring solo artists who will compete with the added pressure of living together. In the new series Sean Combs will continue to do what he does best on the hit series "Making The Band," spot the best talent while pushing them to their limits. But in this new format both men and women will be competing as individuals for the top spot. Sean Combs’ hand picked team of star makers will put them through the rigors of "StarMaker" boot camp which extends well beyond just a contestant’s ability to sing. In addition to having to perform in front of an audience each week the contestants will be tested on how well they handle photo shoots, deal with paparazzi, physically perform on stage and more.

Did you ever receive any words of wisdom from Diddy that stuck with you?

I recall on the occasion on one of our more personal conversations Diddy expressed that whatever you do in the industry you had to do it with 120% of your heart, mind, and soul. Which means you have to throw your entire being into being a success in this business. Although you might have to sacrifice a bit of sleep and recreation to obtain your goals, and once you obtain your goals hopefully you will find that the sacrifices were well worth it.

Sixshot.Com: What is it like working with Diddy?

Mista Raja: Working with Diddy is always a high pressure situation because he's such a beast in the studio honestly. He's demanding and he knows how to pull the best out of you at all times. He can test you but when he does the best will rise out of you, that’s for sure. Being around him just makes you better as an artist. ...

Sixshot.Com: You wrote on 'Come to Me', which was a huge record. Did you think it was going to be that big?

Mista Raja: I knew it was going to be a hit right off the bat because that's all Diddy does. The man makes hits and his track record speaks for itself. I was worried how people were going to react to him just because of the fact that he took such a long break between albums but Press Play was a great project and I thank God that I was on it. The whole process was amazing and it came out great. It was a real success for everybody involved in it.

“Right now, the situation over there [at Bad Boy] is like, you know, if you not in motion, you in slow motion. So slow motion is better than none. So right now we’re on our grind,” Dep said. “We gonna try to get our situation going on and then, you know, we just gonna keep it pushing, you know?”

This Fall Montana will start pre-production on the feature film "The Jump Off", a dance musical where she will co-star alongside Wayne Brady, Cedric The Entertainer, Drew Seeley, and D. Woods of "Danity Kane."

But even in his little downtime, it’s usually onto the business of e-mails, calls and setting up sessions with up-and-coming artists like Hot Stylz that he produces on record label venture Swagg Team Entertainment.

“Yeah, Swagg Team Entertainment. It’s a team; I can’t do it alone,” Yung Joc says. “The initial team was a very unique circle, friends and families, associates – they helped me make this movement legitimate.”

"Hey ... do we look like we broken up?" she asked. "God made this band and only he can take it apart."

Complex: What’s the deal with the Sean John ads?

Nelly: I did one for my man Puffy. He’s a cool dude.

Complex: How long are you locked into that? Is it just one season, or were you guys going to talk about expanding that?

Nelly: Nah, it’s a thing where Puff is my man. He wanted to do something that we thought would be special. He wanted to launch something, and I had an album coming out, and we thought that it would be a good thing for both sides. Puffy is a real, real good friend of mine. It’s very rare that you could have people that you can call directly when you have a problem and things of that nature. When I was trying to get Apple Bottoms off the ground, he would give me advice, and lead me in the right direction. He had Sean John, he had things poppin’ off, and he didn’t really have to do that, and I thought that was real hot. It meant a lot to me. Obviously we handle business, it’s not a thing where Nelly is officially a Sean John model, I just did an ad.

Now, as a veteran of the rap game, P. Diddy hardly needs our help to brush off the haters, so to speak. However, it pains us to see fractional ownership programs like NetJets so misunderstood in the popular press. NetJets owners are not purchasing time aboard an aircraft, as some suggest. Instead fractional jet holders are the legal owners of a portion of an aircraft, which is then leased back to the fractional company who manages the plane and regulates its use.

“I love [the tour], because you get more of a diverse audience that takes the time to understand what they don’t know,” he said. “And it’s pretty cool for the simple fact that music is one of those catalysts. It brings people closer together, no matter what ethnicity, music brings people together, period.”

SixShot.com: Faith Evans is also on your album, do you still have a relationship with most of your ex Bad Boy label mates that you basically grew up with?

Slim: Yup… As a matter of fact, I just got off the phone with Puff probably like an hour ago. He’s finishing up the remix to the ‘So Fly’ joint. He’s on my album, Faith Evans, and Jadakiss. I talk to all of them for real; we’re a Bad Boy family. This is a situation where it’s not just something on paper, so once you’re a family, you’re always a family. We always stay in touch.

Highlight: Danity Kane's Aubrey O'Day wore a "Hate is the new love" t-shirt. Hope she wasn't referring to her group members since she seems to get the most press nowadays.

Joc, born Jasiel Robinson, began his journey to becoming a "genuine G" growing up in Georgia listening to Run DMC, Slick Rick, Outkast and other artists who inspired him to pursue a career in music.

"I go all across the board, and I've been in the business for a long time," Joc said. "I have good relationships with promoters because of my experience, and my ambition has given me the ability to connect with people."

Jackson is currently in the studio working with Bad Boy Records/ Making of the Band - A&R, Conrad Dimanche, and dedicates his forthcoming album "Probable Cause" to the U.S. Army. Muggsy thanks the Sergeant for not "Burning his dreams".

Malone's album is slated for release in March of 2009 and will include production by Infamous, Amadeus, JR. Reid, and Mario Winans, amongst others. Staying close to Washington, the young artist is an advocate and volunteer for the Barack Obama Campaign. Warpath Records label publicist, Tiffiany Vaughn, also reports that the former service man will star in an online reality series entitled "The Making of the Next Big Thing" which is anticipated to air weekly on MySpace.com this fall.

"The Next Big Thing" chronicles the life of a rap artist from the time of signing up through the road to release. Warpath Records CEO Robert Hardy was interested in educating unsigned aspiring acts, the complete process of artist development and the business. Malone's episodes catch him in those not for camera moments, as well as display important aspects of the music business from publicity to promotion. The webisodes are being produced by Malik Buie, and are scheduled to premier in late September.

Danity Kane most closely resembles the Pussycat Dolls, a dance troupe turned musical group that has extended its brand into reality TV and product endorsements. "They're not as big as the Pussycat Dolls, but they're doing all the right steps to get there," Bad Boy co-owner/president Harve Pierre says.

But where, exactly, is "there?" Even Pierre acknowledges that "Danity Kane was made via a reality show, and they owe it all to the marketing genius of Diddy."

"I might get 5,000 extra fans (from the tour)," Joc said. "That what makes it worth it, that and a love of the artistry, it's definitely good. If it doesn't work, pity's also good." A rapper using pity as potential marketing ploy? Now that's unorthodox.

Designer and winner Jesli Banks from MTV’s Sean John: Internship by Design competition, will partner with fellow winning finalists Jason Santiago and Graehme Field to debut “Menage A Trois”, an edgy, nostalgic and flora fauna show during New York’s Fashion Week. The fashion show takes place Thursday, September 11, 2008 at HK Lounge at 8pm.

“Winning the Internship by Design Competition and working with Diddy has been a dream come true,” says Banks. “I absolutely love Diddy, his creativity and dedication to Sean John. I've learned how to create a fierce collection while staying true to my vision. Now I want to make history!”

Jesli Banks’ new Berkli Collection Spring/Summer 2009 Nos·tal·gia line will be the show-stopping finale. Banks’ fresh collection is tie-dye inspired with flowing silk chiffons, satin charmeuse, body conscious metallic leathers and boasts vibrant colors. The clothes are feminine and nostalgic, with retro appeal.

Joining Jesli to create the “Menage a Trois” are collections by Jason Santiago and Graehme Field, who were also winning finalists in the MTV/Sean John Intern By Design competition. Graehme Field’s Fall/Winter 2009: Flora Fauna For Fall collection is based on the idea of mixing elements from summer into a fall/ winter collection. The collection’s theme is echoed in the hundreds of hand cut flowers, each artfully arranged on certain pieces. Fabrications are thick felts and woolens along with some very feminine fabrics. “Femininity and adornment is the key!”, says Graehme.

Jesli Banks is a Detroit native and a graduate of Michigan State University. She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and landed an internship with New York designers Joanna Mastrioanni and Olga Kapustina. In 2006 she joined the Ebony Fashion Fair tour as a wardrobe stylist from 2006-2007. Jesli is the winner of the MTV/Sean John: Intern By Design competition and is currently interning at Sean John. Jason Santiago was born and raised in the streets of the Bronx. His mother and grandmother supported his natural design talent and instilled him with sensitivity and charm. Jason graduated from the New York Art Institute.

Graehme Field, a Rhode Island native, grew up in a flannel shirt town with dreams of the big city and the prestigious fashion industry. After a scholarship and a year at The Art Institute of New York City he was chosen for The Sean John Internship By Design, an MTV reality show. He currently works with private customers and sells some of his clothing at Karma, a boutique in Boston, Mass.

Q: Of course, you're not only playing Diddy in "Notorious," he's also one of the executive producers of the film. Any trepidation there, knowing he'd be watching?

A: Triple trepidation at first. I had to go to him for myself, I needed to know, OK, what do you want from me? Why me? But he said, "I trust you, I like you, I've seen some of what you've done. Go do your thing." And that was it. If ever I asked him questions it would be, "It's cool, just go do your thing."

"It was very late notice," Schenck said. "We didn't have time to do anything else."

Ottemiller said fair officials "put up a struggle" when they were contacted by Danity Kane's talent agency about the cancellation.

"We drew their attention to the fact that they signed a contract and should make an effort to perform," he said.

... he's still dazzled by his new position in the music world. "I met Brandy at a radio station in the Midwest," he says. "She wrapped her arms around me and was like, 'Oh my God, I love you. My family loves you.' And I was like, 'You're Brandy.' She's coming up to me saying she's a fan. What's going on?"

Singersroom: You mentioned that your beginning to create a brand, how would you sum up your sense of fashion?

Donnie: It’s a pretty crazy because I have developed so much over the past year from rocking a hoody and sweat pants. Now I am more high fashion not only am I taking my style from New York but I am traveling internationally. I am even putting this into my music as far as trying to be innovative, staying fresh and staying a step ahead of what’s out there now. For example, the song “Stereo” will represent that.

... he's that inspirational, tough drill-sergeant, to say the least. But it's good. I'm glad to have him as a boss. He doesn't let us get comfortable in our positions. He demands perfection. He sits back at first and let you do what you do, and when it gets to a certain point, he'll step in. Sometimes he'll change the whole song, and scrap songs.
