In a follow up to his first video about what happens to demos, Bad Boy A&R "Skid" Mitchell returns with "What Happens to Demos? Part 2". Watch below.
If you pre-order "Welcome to the Dollhouse", "Day 26" or both from Atlantic Records, you'll get a double sided poster along with your order. The first 100 orders (to all 3 links, I am guessing) receive an autographed poster. Most likely, it is already too late to do that. But, the poster is still cool. Here is what it looks like:
Our release production history page has been brought up to date with the release of the physical version of "In and Out of Love".
Of note, with "In and Out of Love Interlude", Mario Winans reached 100 tracks produced on Bad Boy releases and then made it 101 with "Dropping Out of Love". Diddy and Winans are the only two producers to reach the three digit mark, with the next closest being Stevie J. at 59.
The Bad Boy Publishing MySpace has posted two videos from last Monday's episode of Making the Band 4. They feature the parts I discussed where Diddy introduced Seven Aurelius, one of The Hitmen, and basically said he was a little out there. Some funny moments between Diddy and Donnie.
The videos also feature Seven working with Donnie and you can listen to a small part of Donnie's "Dr. Love".
I just finished watching BET's Rip the Runway, co-hosted by Sean John spokesmodel Lauren London and featuring performances from Cheri Dennis and Day 26. Sean John was part of the show. This is Bad Boy Blog, so let's skip to the Sean John part.
Cheri Dennis opened the segment a no rap version of "Portrait of Love". BET's Terrence was one of the models for Sean John. After Cheri, Day 26 came out as Lauren London and Cassie walked the runway. They performed "Got Me Going". Both Cheri Dennis and Day 26 were solid in their performances.
It was a few minutes or so and then it was over. Diddy came out, joining London and Cassie, bowing to the crowd. Supposedly, there will also be an interview up at BET's Rip the Runway site soon, as well.
During a side interview with June Ambrose, Diddy said that she was the one responsible for the shiny suits, so "let's kill her". heh.
Update: The second track now works.
Yesterday, I reviewed the Bad Boy 08 sampler, which features new songs from Danity Kane and Day 26. Care of Bad Boy A&R "Skid" Mitchell, you can listen to it as well. See the audio player below. For whatever reason, "I'm The Reason", doesn't seem to be working, though. Still, the rest do.
I made this music player at MyFlashFetish.com.
The Rip the Runway site has a commercial featuring Diddy.
The show will be co-hosted by Sean John spokesmodel Lauren London. Sean John will be featured in the show and they have photos of the line available. During the program, Day 26 and Cheri Dennis will perform.
It will premiere on March 4 at 10 PM ET on BET with encore showings on March 7 and March 9, both at 10:00 PM ET.
Watch below for a faux news report where Diddy claims that Qwanell, in calling Dawn and Aubrey and knowing they would come when Donnie was talking with another girl, committed b****a**ness. Funny stuff.
Baller Status has an interview with Michael Bivins, where he touches on Making the Band 4 and New Edition's time on Bad Boy.
BallerStatus.com: I know this news isn't entirely brand new, but how did you even wind up getting the artist development gig for MTV's "Making the Band 4?"
Michael Bivins: Um... it jumped off by Puff reaching out and saying that he was about to do season four. He was looking for a boy band, and he was asking me to come and bring my New Edition eye and, you know, my BBD/Boyz II Men eye, and come and help him put together a hot group. So, it kinda went from us talking on the phone, to me talking to MTV and working out the deal. Then from there, just went out there and went on the road and, um, started just discovering the kids and seeing some of the special talent in the different cities. And, kinda figuring out who my favorites were early on, and seeing if they could make it all the way to New York. The experience was incredible. It was one of the most fun and enjoying moments I think I've had in the music business just because it came at a time in my life where I was waiting to do something that was fun, and didn't seem so normal routine. That was like a different routine for me and I enjoyed it. ...
BallerStatus.com: Coming off of that last New Edition album, One Love in 2004, which was the group's first and only for Bad Boy, there were talks of, maybe, some, pardon the pun, bad blood, between the powers that be at the label and you all stemming from the way the solid, but commercially overlooked record was handled. Didn't this affect your working relationship with Puff?
Michael Bivins: Um...I never had problems with Puff, so I really don't... you know... I don't know what you mean by that. That was just a bunch of stuff that was just being said, but we've been good. We was always good. We both executives, so we're both on the same page the majority of the time.
BallerStatus.com: So, you really feel that he did all he could to properly promote One Love?
Michael Bivins: I had a great time with that project, you know? I have nothing but good memories about the project, and I think Puff did his thing and I think we did our thing. I think it was a win-win for both sides.
Crain's New York Business.com has a quick interview with Bad Boy President Harve Pierre.
“We are one of those brands that will just last forever, like Kellogg’s Corn Flakes,” Mr. Pierre says.
The executive has worked alongside Mr. Combs since they attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. Together and separately, the two promoted campus parties. Though Mr. Combs began commuting between college and Uptown Records, where he was an intern, Mr. Pierre remained at school and earned a degree in business and hospitality management.
