On his Facebook page, Machine Gun Kelly posted a message saying that he will announce the release date for his upcoming debut album, "Lace Up," on Monday. Stay tuned.
Power 105.1's DJ Clue, a veteran hip-hop DJ and collaborator with Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Fabolous and others, released a new mixtape today, "Desert Storm: The Takeover."
The mixtape features the premiere of "Hold On," a new song from Machine Gun Kelly featuring Young Jeezy. While DJ Clue is a well respected, influential DJ that many artists send music to, to premiere, it is unclear if this release was expected by Bad Boy or Machine Gun Kelly.
While we have to cover this story, since it is news, given the fact that Machine Gun Kelly, nor Young Jeezy, or anyone directly affiliated with them, has mentioned it yet, we will not be providing a link to the song or allowing links in the comments. When I hear more, we'll have an update here at Bad Boy Blog.
Edit: Updated the post to reflect that we will wait to link (or allow links) to anything until I receive some official confirmation.
In an interview with Rap-Up.com, Machine Gun Kelly revealed two additional collaborations for "Lace Up," his upcoming debut album.
"The song me and Lil' Jon got is called 'Lace Up,'" he said. "I've never made a song called 'Lace Up." I was like, 'f*** it, we've got to do one.' When Lil' Jon came into the studio to do it, I was like 'you're not getting on the song to be the anthem of my movement if you don't truly understand this."
To educate him on the meaning of "Lace Up," MGK showed Lil' Jon tour footage, fan tattoo photos and messages from fans.
He would not put a name to the other collaborator, wanting it to be a surprise, but said that it was "one of the greatest lead vocalists I've ever heard in my life" from "probably one of the greatest metal groups."
In addition, he discussed his relationship with Diddy and his dream collaboration: Eminem, who he has yet to meet. Watch below.
FILTER Magazine has an interview and freestyle from Machine Gun Kelly. He lists the 5 songs he'd like to cover and the 5 most influential punk bands. Watch the freestyle below.
"Your entire order will ship on or about October 5, 2012."
A release date for the album has not yet been announced and this date should be taken with a grain of salt. But, since it is on his official website and official store, where he is taking pre-orders, it is worth noting.
The "Lace Up Bundle" includes the deluxe edition of the CD alongside a t-shirt, an 8-10 photo, a bracelet to get first come first serve meet and greet access at certain events, an exclusive ticket code for early access to October tour dates and two bonuses for fans who ordered his "Half Naked & Almost Famous" EP bundle: a 10% discount and a limited edition key chain. The cost of the bundle is $48.
The "MGK Gold Pack" bundle includes a standard edition of the album, an exclusive t-shirt and both of the bonuses for people who ordered his "Half Naked & Almost Famous" EP bundle. The cost is $33.
Updating a previous story, I have received word from a source at Bad Boy that the "Lace Up" album release date announcement on USTREAM has been postponed. No new date or time has been announced, but they said that an update would be released soon. As I write, the countdown on his Facebook page remains online.
According to his Facebook page, Machine Gun Kelly will announce the release date of his debut album, "Lace Up," tonight on USTREAM. You can watcgh on the machinegunkelly channel.
Bad Boy is asking for votes to decide which t-shirt will be offered in Machine Gun Kelly's "Lace Up" album bundle. The first option is a white shirt with a tic-tac-toe design and the other is a black shirt with "Live Like it's Your Dyin' Day" featured alongside a profile of MGK. Voting has just begun and is set to end at 3 AM ET on August 8.
