Update: According to a press rep, Elephant Man is slated to attend the NYC event, as well.

According to CaribWorldNews.com, Elephant Man will be performing at Raggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, this July.

They are doing an NYC kickoff on June 4, but it is unclear as to if Elephant Man will be participating. I've reached out to them to find out.

According to this feature from The Jamaican Observer, Elephant Man is slated for a guest feature on the upcoming album from dancehall artist, Leftside.

The many sides of Craig Parkes will play out on his upcoming album Split Personality (via New York-based Ultra Records), which is scheduled to drop in late August and boasts an all-star lineup, including Sean Paul, Elephant Man, Aidonia and newcomer Tash Simmonds. It's a lyrical sparring between the always-dapper brother we know as Leftside and his mischievously comical flip side Mr Evil, a name he doesn't want to be interpreted the wrong way.

Dave Stelfox of the Guardian claims that Elephant Man's "Our World" promotes violence against homosexuals. " [The video depicts] the murder of a man who then morphs into a fish - patois for gay male - its gruesome imagery shows that little has changed [with Elephant Man's past prejudices]," Stelfox says.

A request for comment from Bad Boy sent on Friday has gone unreturned.

The Billboard charts are in and Elephant Man's "Let's Get Physical" has debuted at #1 on the Top Raggae Albums Chart. He did not chart on The Billboard 200, unfortunately, but did chart at #38 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. This is not a release that's going to do what would traditionally be considered as "big numbers"; it has to be considered in relation to the genre that it is in.

The Voice Online has an interview with Elephant Man.

So when a rumour emerged last year that Ele had got into fisticuffs with his new Bad Boy boss, people could only imagine what kind of drama had ensued between the pair. But as it turned out, the rumour was completely false.

“That was nothing more than people going on the Internet to spread lies and rumours,” Ele said. “Me and Puffy are good. Sometimes people have nothing better to do than to player-hate. But I just wanna let the fans know that nothing like that happened.”

“How am I gonna sign to a major company like Bad Boy and go and beat up Puffy? Reggae music doesn’t need any more bad press. As artists, we need to do our best to keep the music positive and that’s what I’m trying to do. Reggae gets such a fight as it is, and I’m not gonna be the one to bring it down, by being so dunce and fool that I would go and screw up a great opportunity.”
