From AllHipHop.com:
... "Everything is great man...[they] calling me a fugitive, saying I'm on the run…come on, man," Joc said. "That's [fugitive] a powerful word though, that's a strong word. My situation was a mishap. I ain't supposed to talk about it…but hell, I'm keepin it real.
"They're slandering my character all over everywhere, I'm a 'fugitive on the run,'" Joc continued. "Get the hell out of here, man. Listen, I ain't know it was on me, I didn't even have the bag the whole trip. Boom. That's why I wasn't charged with federal charges."
Yung Joc has released the following statement in response to recent events.
I have the utmost respect for the laws of this country and would never deliberately commit an act that would jeopardize my freedom, my family, or my career. I've worked very hard to achieve my goals, and it's unfortunate that this current situation has garnered more attention than the many donations I've made and the charitable work I've done with various organizations.
I'm proud to be a citizen of America, where we are taught to believe that every person is afforded the presumption of innocence. That being said, I have full respect for the judicial system and its due process. I look forward to resolving this situation and moving forward to a positive and prosperous 2008. Best wishes to you and your families in the New Year. Thank you.
HipHopDX is reporting that Joc made it to court late yesterday and that he was allowed to remain free on bond, though he was "scolded" by the judge. His next court date is January 25.
E! reports that Yung Joc missed his court date yesterday and a warrant has been issued for his arrest because of that. In addition, his bond has been doubled to $100,000. His attorney, Stanley Jackson, Jr., apologized and said that Joc was out of town on family business.
The report notes that Joc told authorities that he did not know that the gun was there.
HipHopDX.com reports that Yung Joc was arrested in Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport early Sunday morning when he brought a loaded hand gun through a security check. Are you kidding me?
