06/09: Donnie Klang: "It's Tough Being on a Label Where the President of the Label is also an Artist"
Billboard reports on
Donnie Klang's announcement that he is no longer signed to Bad Boy Records. Oddly, they refer to it as an "exclusive," even though
Singersroom.com reported a couple of weeks ago.
Klang said he learned a lot about "the business side of things, not just music," from Bad Boy and its CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs, but added that, "it's tough being on a label where the president of the label is also an artist."
I can see how it is both a good thing to some and a bad thing to others. A lot of people who are now Donnie Klang fans wouldn't know who Donnie is if Diddy weren't as well know as he is (and the biggest reason he's well known is because he is an artist).
