Black Voices' Sonya Magett reports that Aubrey O'Day from Danity Kane walked the runway for Khloe Kardashian's Dash & Mooch fashion show.
Highlight: Danity Kane's Aubrey O'Day wore a "Hate is the new love" t-shirt. Hope she wasn't referring to her group members since she seems to get the most press nowadays.
Billboard has an interesting feature on the marketing success of Danity Kane.
Danity Kane most closely resembles the Pussycat Dolls, a dance troupe turned musical group that has extended its brand into reality TV and product endorsements. "They're not as big as the Pussycat Dolls, but they're doing all the right steps to get there," Bad Boy co-owner/president Harve Pierre says.
But where, exactly, is "there?" Even Pierre acknowledges that "Danity Kane was made via a reality show, and they owe it all to the marketing genius of Diddy."
According to a flier posted on her MySpace, Aundrea from Danity Kane will be hosting a party in San Francisco on September 13. It'll be at The Room at 101 6th Street. Doors open at 10:00 PM.
Update: As pointed out in the comments, the author of the article could be joking. I apologize if that is the case. But, out of respect for the writer, since it was stated factually, I'm going to take it at face value.
Esther Dixon of Black Voices reports that Aubrey from Danity Kane styled the look of Keri Hilson for the 2008 MTV VMAs.
The "Best Pop Video" award at the MTV VMAs 2008 went to Britney Spears for "Piece of Me." Danity Kane's "Damaged" had also been nominated.
During a live promo for the voting for the "Best New Artist" category, Danity Kane appeared as the vote "counters," clinging to mobile devices and mock reading votes coming in. Aundrea, the last in the line, joked that she received a text from Diddy saying to be at the studio by midnight and Dawn followed by saying that they weren't worried about him.
Just announced, the winner of the "Best Dancing in a Video" category at the MTV VMAs 2008 was "When I Grow Up" by the Pussycat Dolls. Danity Kane's "Damaged" was also nominated.
The York Daily Record reports that Danity Kane's late cancellation, for their scheduled York Fair performance, left organizers in a tough spot.
"It was very late notice," Schenck said. "We didn't have time to do anything else."
Ottemiller said fair officials "put up a struggle" when they were contacted by Danity Kane's talent agency about the cancellation.
"We drew their attention to the fact that they signed a contract and should make an effort to perform," he said.
Though I know things come up, this isn't a very good look. It's not very professional to cancel on such short notice.
According to Dawn's MySpace, she'll be hosting two parties, one on each of the next two Saturdays.
The first one is tonight, Saturday, in Los Angeles at Sugar Hollywood. It's located at 1716 N. Cahuenga Blvd.
The next one is on September 13 in Las Vegas at Hawaiian Tropic Zone.
The Danity Kane Comics site has a new section with character detail and story background information. A navigation tip: keep your mouse on one of the corners and leave it there. Click the corner to flip a page. Doing much else may end up with random pages turning.
