Vibe has brief interview with Chris Gethard, a New York-based comedian who has been trying to get Diddy to appear on his monthly live show at New York's Uptight Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theatre for almost a year.

After he was unable to get Al Roker to appear, Gethard set his sights on Diddy, announcing the idea on December 24, 2009 via the video below, followed by a personal plea to Diddy directly.



Gethard was successful and was able to get his idea on Diddy's radar in a remarkably short amount of time. It was just a week later when he received a call from Diddy, who indicated that he was interested. But, a month passed and there was no specific commitment. Once again, he posted a video to encourage renewed interest:


Without a reply, he continued to send out tweets throughout the year and eventually, he received a reply once again - this time on September 11. Diddy once again confirmed that he was still interested.

When Gethard learned that Diddy would be appearing on "Saturday Night Live," he reached out to some acquaintances of his that work on the show and he was able to orchestrate an impromptu face-to-face meet up with Diddy.

They recorded the clip below, in which Diddy says that he'll visit Gethard's show in January - but only if he receives a lot of Twitter messages about it.


I really admire how Gethard has approached this idea. A lot of people have this strong sense of entitlement where everyone needs to make time for them, no matter how busy they are, and they can say anything they want to a celebrity on Twitter because they are somehow not human or will never read it. Gethard has exhibited a refreshing amount of humility and, because of that, I'd love to see him hook up with Diddy to make this dream a reality.
