Rap Radar's B.Dot reports on Def Jam's Rick Ross and Supreme Team conference call featuring Ross, Diddy, DJ Khaled and Mister Cee. Care of
Def Jam's Young Sav, you can
download the call for free. But, let's talk highlights.
Diddy spoke glowingly of Ross and spoke to the suggestions that he had compared Ross to Biggie, during the music video shoot to Dirty Money's "Angels (Remix)." We've been over this:
Diddy didn't compare him to Biggie, he just said he was sounding like him on one track.
"He's a very unique artist," Diddy said. "He's bigger than just an artist, he's a brand and that's one of the reasons why I wanted to work with him, because I feel we can do bigger and better things. Having worked with Biggie, somebody that also was talking about things from the street. I'm not comparing him to Biggie, because we get started going down that road. But, I am saying that there is similarities in the mental approach of a record that I do have a familiarity with. To me, he's the Biggie of the south, hands down. I heard his album. His album's a classic."
He also called Ross' recent mixtape release,
"The Albert Anastasia EP" (
free download) "one of the hardest mixtapes in history."
Mister Cee revealed something interesting, which was that the original title of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Ready to Die" was "Teflon Don," which just happens to be the title of Rick Ross' upcoming release.
"I told Ross a couple of weeks ago - he don't even know this or not - you know, "Teflon Don" was the original title of Biggie's "Ready to Die" album," said Cee. "And so, it's incredible to me how that's the name of Ross' album. Like Diddy said, it's not about Ross sounding like Big, but you cannot deny the zone that Ross is in, from where he was at from the first album to now is just - my n****, you on another planet."

Back in April,
I shared the music video for Usher's "Lil' Freak," which was presented by Ciroc. The song features Nicki Minaj and, as I noted then, she raps that she's "plotting on how I can take Cassie away from Diddy."
On Sunday, Usher and Nicki Minaj performed the record at
HOT 97 Summer Jam and they brought Cassie out. Check out the clip below, care of

I reported that Diddy would join Jermaine Dupri on stage at the 2010 VH1 "Hip-Hop Honors," with Dupri being one of the honorees. Check out the performance below. The program airs tonight on VH1 at 9 PM ET.
Josh Wigler of MTV reports that "Get Him to the Greek" was the best new release at the box office in it's opening weekend, grossing $17.4 million.
According to
reports, this seems to be a modest success. Wigler calls it "respectable," saying that it nearly halves the film's $40 million dollar production budget.
Other new releases included "Killers" (starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl), "Marmaduke" and "Spice." They banked $16.1 million, $11.3 million and $7.4 million, respectively, according to
Nikki Finke.
Including previous releases, "Greek" finished behind only "Shrek Forever After 3D," which came in with $24.3 million.
