Yesterday, Diddy sent a pair of tweets that indicated that singer Megan Nicole had been signed to Bad Boy Records. The first tweet was a "shout out to the Bad Boy family," listing Nicole alongside Bad Boy artists Los, Cassie, French Montana, Red Cafe and Machine Gun Kelly. The second tweet was "TURN UP!," directed toward Nicole and ending with "#BADBOY2.0." Diddy and the label have been referring to the current Bad Boy roster as "Bad Boy 2.0."
This isn't the first I had heard of Nicole. In April, singer/songwriter Jack Knight said on Twitter that he was in the studio with Nicole and that she was a Bad Boy artist. I followed up with him to verify his statement and his response was to delete the tweet and tell me "no."
Earlier this month, songwriter/producer Angel Jerez mentioned Nicole, saying that he was in the studio working on a record for "Bad Boy's pop artist."
The 18 year old singer has developed a substantial following online, with over 100,000 followers on Twitter, 600,000 likes on Facebook and 900,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Requests for comment from both Bad Boy Records and Nicole's management team, sent this afternoon, were not immediately returned. If I hear something, we'll have an update.
He shares a few interesting stories, including how he helped Diddy bring his remix concept to life. They also talk about how Busta Rhymes wanted Black Rob's "Fire in Da Hole" for his album. Rick Ross has released an unofficial music video for his single "Touch'N You" featuring Usher. Shot in France during the Cannes Film Festival, the clip features cameos from Diddy and Cassie. Watch below.
NODFACTOR.COM has an interview with music producer Tony Dofat. It focuses on his work with Diddy during the Bad Boy CEO's days with Uptown Records. In addition, Dofat discusses how Faith Evans was introduced to Diddy.
I did this Christopher Williams beat and Vincent Herbert came in the studio and said “I got this girl from Jersey, her name is Faith. Yo she sings.” He brought her by the studio and she sang for us. We asked her if she could do something for the Christopher Williams records and she said yeah. She went into the booth after I did the beat she sang on it. We said she sounded hot. That was her first time in the booth and we were like, we gonna keep that. Puff ended up signing her and she became a super star.
