On Twitter, Black Rob is offering a free download of "New York," from his upcoming mixtape "Game Tested & Street Approved." Another message from his Twitter account indicates that it is "coming real soon."
Black Rob is now on Twitter as TheRealBlackRob. The account has been around for a long time, even when he was serving prison, so it may very well be maintained by a manager or intermediary of some sort. Previously, I hadn't been able to confirm that it was official. But, he mentioned the account during his interview with BET.
On Tuesday, we posted clips from a BET interview with Black Rob, who was just released from prison. BET appears to have released the full interview. Check it out below. He talks about his time in prison, the mistakes he's made, the state of music now and his future, among other things.

Back in November, Diddy was asked on HOT 97 about the status of Black Rob on Bad Boy. He didn't answer it, but said this:
"What I am... I'm a provider of an opportunity," he said. "I own a label called Bad Boy. I don't have a secret type of spell to control people's lives. I can't keep Black Rob out of jail. That's something that I could not do. I love Black Rob to death. That's what happened to Black Rob. If Black Rob was here and around, I know he'd be making great music."
We haven't heard from Black Rob since January 2009 when he spoke to XXL and told them that he was unclear on his situation, but was still cool with Diddy and Bad Boy. He's been serving a 7 year prison sentence since March of 2006. He was released for a seemingly brief period in 2007 and was supposedly close to release in January of 2009.
BET News has a brand new interview with him and they say it was conducted just two hours after his release from prison. Check it out below.
I think, at the end, he hit at the unfortunate part of this. I'm a Black Rob fan and he's got talent. But, his potential has been severely cut by poor judgment and that's a shame. It's a devastating, if not uncommon, example of someone who could have been very successful, but made too many mistakes. I'm not sure how long you can expect someone to put money behind you, to have money lost due to these sorts of lapses.
I hope that it's a new day for B.R. though and that from here on out, everything goes well for him.
I'm trying to confirm that he's off of Bad Boy with someone at the label. I'll report back when I hear something.

Funkmaster Flex asked Diddy about Black Rob during an interview tonight on Hot 97. He asked him if he was still on the label. Diddy didn't exactly answer that, but he did echo some of the things I've been saying.
Our audio player has a new track from Black Rob. It's called "Three Course Meal."
For the first time ever, our audio player has not one, but two new tracks from Black Rob. "Infinite" and "Big Guns (Freestyle)." The former has a nice vibe to it, I think. Check them out.
As a follow up to the excerpt they released earlier this month, you can now read XXLmag.com's full interview with Black Rob. In it, B.R. explains how he is still loyal to Bad Boy and cool with Diddy, though he is unsure of his situation. Once he gets out, he says he'll figure out what is going on at Bad Boy, but either way, he plans to get back to recording.
Rob has issues to work out, though. In the interview, he admits to being addicted to the adrenaline caused by "robbing people, or getting on the mic doing it or fighting somebody," calling it "better than any drug I ever had." Very scary. Damaging to his career, but more importantly, to his freedom. The interview closes with:
XXL: Are you still on Bad Boy?
BR: Man I have no idea. I haven’t heard from these dudes, they might’ve took me off the Bad Boy website or whatever but I haven’t heard from anyone telling me what the deal is. So until I get a piece of paper saying that I’m no longer a Bad Boy artist, I’m still reppin’ that flag. I’m a team player man. We talking about the streets and how we do in the streets, if I got a problem with you fam I’ma come to you and tell you I got a problem with you. I’m not gonna go to the [media], I’m not gonna go to Summer Jam and bug out [Note from Patrick: Back during the first dispute between The Lox and Diddy, one of the heights of tension was when The Lox performed at Summer Jam in their "Let The Lox Go" t-shirts.], I’ma handle it on a street level. “Ayo Puff let me holla at you.” I’m not gonna do the other thing. I’m on Bad Boy. I can be number two, I’m not trying to be the king; at the end of the day the king gets the throne.
XXL: What’s the plan when you get out?
BR: Alright. Me personally, from the horses mouth, this is the last run for me. I have to stay focused and I’m gonna. Now when I couple my experiences of being in the game and its pitfalls, I don’t wanna come back to prison, it’s a wrap. I got the right people behind me, the people who got love for Rob Ross, f*** Black Rob the artist, I got love for Rob Ross. They gonna push me to my full potential and put the machine behind me, something that the labels don’t do. I just need to get home and see what’s really goin on at Bad Boy. There are a lot of labels that I know is gonna grab me.
The problem is, it's hard to believe him at this point. Don't get me wrong, I like Rob a lot, as an artist and I like how he handled himself in this interview, but can you really invest money behind him into a new project? If Bad Boy does it, I'll be right in line to buy the album, but if they don't... you can't blame them. It's sad, but Rob is kind of ill right now. I hope he gets better and gets back on track.

XXLmag.com spoke with Black Rob from prison, asking him about his present situation with Bad Boy.
"I haven’t heard from these dudes," he told them. "They might’ve took me off the Bad Boy website or whatever but I haven’t heard from anyone telling me what the deal is. So until I get a piece of paper saying that I’m no longer a Bad Boy artist, I’m still reppin’ that flag. I’m a team player man."
Rob believes that he is approximately 90 days from release, but the XXLmag.com's Elan Mancini is careful to note that he has no official release date as of now.
