12/29: For First Time in Company History, Bad Boy Records Fails to Release Album in Calendar Year
With 2011 coming to a close, Bad Boy Records will break it's streak of 17 consecutive calendar years where it released at least one album.
From 1994 through 2010, the record label put out at least one album every single year. In 1995 and 2002, it put out only one album. The most prolific year was 2008, which saw 8 releases (counting 8 Ball & MJG's "Living Legends" and the "Chopped and Screwed" version both as one release).
During the span, Bad Boy averaged 3.8 releases per year (including "Bad Boy Records Presents Dance Mixes Volumes 1-4" as one release and Jordan McCoy's self-titled digital only EP). For more information, please see our full list of
Bad Boy releases.
Bad Boy's last release was Diddy/Dirty Money's "Last Train to Paris" on December 14, 2010. Right now, it appears that Red Cafe's debut album may be Bad Boy's first release. The rapper has been referencing a February 14 release date for "The Shakedown," which at that point would be Bad Boy's first release in exactly 14 months.
