The last few months have been a little crazy and, as such, we have been focusing on high level stories - or stories that happened to cross my desk - here at Bad Boy Blog. At the same time, being a comprehensive source, I at least wanted to summarize some of the stories that fell through the cracks during this time. Check out some of them below.
Diddy/Dirty Money Interview with WTAM 1100 Cleveland
In December, Dirty Money was interviewed by WTAM 1100 in Cleveland. They talk about the formation of the group, the development of "Last Train to Paris" and more. One of the more interesting parts was Diddy's answer when asked how Skylar Grey came to be featured on "Coming Home."
TB: Skylar Grey is featured on that track – she was pretty much unknown before this. How did she become a part of it?
Diddy: Yeah, she was writing, she wrote the song, with the chorus. Jay-Z helped me write the rest of the song, and Alex da Kid - who did "Airplanes," and “"Love The Way You Lie" - that's one of his main writers that he works with. I just loved her voice on the intro. We don't have egos, we have an allegiance to the song, and we also had a lot of different featured but we didn't have anybody that was kind of unknown, so we were like, "Hey let's keep her on the front, it sounds good." That's what music is about sounding good – let's leave it like that.
Video: Diddy and Rick Ross Being Interviewed... and then Dwayne Wade Happens
In the clip below, posted on the official NBA YouTube channel, Diddy and Rick Ross are being interviewed courtside at a Miami Heat game last month. And then Dwayne Wade dunks. And the interview ends.
T.I. Reveals that Diddy Gave Him "Castle Walls" Record
In an interview with MTV, rapper T.I. revealed that his single "Castle Walls," featuring Christina Aguilera, was originally Diddy's record. It was produced by Alex da Kid (who produced Dirty Money's "Coming Home") and both Alex da Kid and Skylar Grey received co-writer credits on the song.
"A funny thing about this record, because it belonged to my big homey Puff first," T.I. said. "And Puff, he acknowledged it, 'Yeah, this is my record, but you know what, I think this is a better fit for you. I think you should rock out on this one. I think this speaks volumes to where you are, what you going through, what you living and how you feel.' With his blessings, we took that record and I basically just gave everybody the truth to life, day to day, fly on the wall perspective of what it means to go through what it takes to be me."
Well, the man behind the camera, Brandon Gross of Urgent Content, wrote a post for the UC blog in December where he detailed how the whole thing came together. It's not as simple as you might thing! He ends his story with:
Diddy could not be more of a professional. and a gentleman. His team, the same way, all pros, all good people, no ego. meanwhile, this is the guy that has really defined an era of music, not to mention, is responsible for shepherding the greatest MC ever to be (B.I.G. RIP). We talked a little bit about the approach to the spot, the length of the final product, how he was going to shoot while in the helicopter (they strapped him in as he hung out the side one leg out of it, no stunt man, WOW!) And he went for it. Puff is a true fan of the product, which really helped. And here you have it ladies and gentleman: the music video in all it’s 3 helicopter splendor!
E! Online reported in November that Diddy gave a couple of members of the paparazzi a surprise when he gave them each a hundred dollar bill, following a meal at Boa in West Hollywood. Watch the clip below.
