01/14: Chris Gethard Reflects on the 13 Month Long #DiddyGethard Effort
In December,
I wrote about Chris Gethard's efforts to get Diddy to appear on his monthly live comedy show and how Diddy had agreed to appear on the show in January. That night was tonight and the
show began about a half hour ago at New York's UCB Theatre.
First and foremost, congrats to Mr. Gethard. As I mentioned in that previous story, I really admire the way he went at this whole idea - there was a sense of humility and good nature here that, unfortunately, we don't see enough. He earned this night and I hope it's a great one.
Gethard penned an article at Spitsider where he reflects on the whole 13 month long journey and his interactions with Diddy. It's a great read.
People made fun of me throughout the year, but I never gave up. To me, #diddygethard has gone from being a bit to being a phrase that means “never give up” and “be stubborn in the face of doubters” and “do what you do even if other people make fun of you for it”. I know that’s cheesy, but it’s true. The phrase #diddygethard has taken on this weird emotional meaning for me.
