07/20: Jay Electronica on the Making of "The Ghost of Christopher Wallace" and Diddy's Contribution
Jay Electronica's
"The Ghost of Christopher Wallace" (
free download features the rapper on the first half of the cut and then Diddy continuing to talk on the rest of the record.
Some people like it, some people don't. With the exception of the random generalization of bloggers, I love that stuff and I've always loved Diddy's ad-libs. It seems like Jay Elect is a fan, too. He
spoke with MTV News' Shaheem Reid about the record and how it came to be. Speaking in reference to Diddy talking on the record, this is what he said:
"I told him to. That's the Puff I love. That's the Puff I wanna hear. I grew up listening to Biggie records and all these other records. I hear both sides of the coin; some people like it, some people don't. He went long. We was supposed to go in the studio the next day with the engineer and only uses pieces. But I told him, 'Leave it all the way in.' I wanted it like that. A lot of times when I leave skits on there, it serves the same purpose. It's keeping the atmosphere and the energy."
