07/04: The Telegraph Talks to Janelle Monae
Bernadette McNulty of the Telegraph spoke with Janelle Monae about androids, conformity and more.
Underneath the uniform, rather than an emotionless android, Monáe seems to be working out how to be a shy girl making it in an extrovert’s business. “Most people are under the conception that when they meet me I will be the same as I act on stage but it’s just the music that makes me feel that way. I am a very shy person and I don’t like to be looked at for long periods of time,” she admits. “I’m finding that hard to get used to.”
