05/20: Diddy Defends Justin Bieber's BET Awards Nomination
When the
BET Awards 2010 nominees were announced, it was revealed that singer Justin Bieber was nominated in the Best New Artist category.
Some have been critical of the move, but at the press conference, Diddy praised the awards show for allowing him to be nominated.
"The awards are important to hip hop and to show [hip-hop artists] in the right light," Diddy is quoted as saying, by
Gatecrasher. "But the beauty of BET is, if Justin Bieber's hot, then he deserves to be on that stage. Sometimes, at other award shows, the color of your skin or the type of music you make takes away from getting the accolade you deserve."
