Malcolm Venable of The Virginian-Pilot has a feature on four artists in the Hampton Roads, VA area. One of the artists is Tifanii Songbird, a contestant from Making the Band 3.

She says that she lied about her age to get on the show, which required participants to be at least 18 years of age. She was 15 at the time and her real name is Dav'rielle Smith. She used her cousin Tifanii's ID to get past the restriction.

Once there, however, she injured herself during a challenge and was sent home. She says that Diddy called but that she was not able to return because she had not fully recovered. It was at this point that she admitted her true age.

"He said, 'I'm not even mad at you, because you're a hustler.' " He offered her a beginning deal, she says, but the package likely would have seen her shelved for a while, so she turned it down.
