01/24: Jordan McCoy's Next Single: "I Decide"
According to a message from
her Twitter profile, Jordan McCoy's next single will be "I Decide." This is a cover of a Lindsay Lohan song of the same title, released in August of 2004 on the
soundtrack for "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement". It was written and executive produced by Diane Warren and produced by Peter Stengaard for Studio D Productions.
Via
BBB reader Adam at idolforums.com, who doesn't really like the single choice and, as such, is no longer a
professional Jordan McCoy fan. Kidding! :)

I just really don't see the market for "I Decide". Yes, it is the most purchased song off the EP on iTunes, but that's solely because the tween audience remembers Lindsay's version, and they want to hear Jordan's take on it. It's a good song, but I don't think it has mainstream appeal, as Jordan's voice sounds very young in the song. She could release it as a single to Radio Disney, but Lindsay's version was released as a Radio Disney single...Could the same song do well twice when it's going for the same market?
I wasn't a big fan of Just Watch Me and I Get Weak being singles, but I could hear some mainstream appeal in them. When I discovered Jordan's MySpace after reading about what happened with Big Girls Don't Cry, I heard I Get Weak and it was my favourite song of hers. But now covers just don't too well on radio, and though I Get Weak was a great cover and semi-marketable, there are many other songs that I've since heard that are much more worthy of being released as singles.
Some of the songs with the most mainstream appeal that she has recorded aren't even on the track listing for Just Watch Me. Unless it gets changed, the main audience for Jordan's album is Disney fans...And right now they've got Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez...There's not really room for Jordan to become a Disney star.
