For the sixth consecutive year, Forbes has released their Hip-Hop Cash Kings list, ranking hip-hop centric acts that have earned the most money in the previous year.

While there are always many changes to the list from year to year, Jay-Z and Diddy have been the definition of consistency. Jay-Z has earned between $34 million and $63 million each year and been ranked first four times and second once. Menawhile, Diddy has earned anywhere from $28 million to $35 million, placing second three times and third twice. While 50 Cent, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Akon, Lil' Wayne and Birdman have all appeared on the top 5, none of them have done it more than 3 times, compared to Jay-Z and Diddy both appearing in the top 5 for all 5 years.

This consistency continues in 2012. But, for the first time, Diddy is estimated to have earn more than Jay-Z, during what was a very successful year for the Roc Nation founder. Diddy earned $45 million, placing second. Jay-Z earned $38 million. Dr. Dre surges to the top of the list, at $110 million, thanks to the proceeds from the sale of a majority stake in Beats by Dr. Dre to HTC.

Earlier this year, Forbes debuted their list of the wealthiest hip-hop artists by total net worth with Diddy at the top of it, besting second place Jay-Z by $90 million.
