10/19: French Montana: "Pop That" Has Gone Gold
According to a
tweet sent by Diddy and Bad Boy-affiliated talent manager James Cruz, and
retweeted by French Montana, the rapper's single "Pop That" has gone gold.
When someone says that an artist has gone gold, they are usually indicating one of two things: that the song or album has sold at least 500,000 units or that it has been certified gold by the RIAA, signifying 500,000 copies solid in the United States through tracked retail outlets. The song has not yet been added to the
RIAA's searchable database, but that often happens after the artists themselves have been informed. The
Daddy's House Recording Studios Facebook page labeled it as "gold certified." Once it is added to the RIAA database, we'll have an update.
