10/23: Judge Finds for Music Publishing Company in "Ready to Die" Dispute
One of the first articles that was posted here at Bad Boy Blog was about a court case revolving around an
uncleared sample used on the song "Ready to Die". The case was appealed and a judge rules on October 17 to uphold the initial decision, according to
AllHipHop.com.
Later in 2006, a
new version of the album "Ready to Die" with this, and another sample removed, was released.
The article notes that the judge found that the publishing company, Bridgeport, is entitled to 25% of the new copyright to the song and that both parties are expected to negotiate, so that the song can be re-released.
