With
your questions in mind, I interviewed Jordan McCoy. Her debut album, "Just Watch Me", is slated for an August 14 release.
Jenn and Kristen asked: So, how'd you like your first radio tour? Was it what you expected?
I LOVED it!! I really didn't even know what to expect before I went into it... but, it was a ton of fun.
Jenn asked: Did you have any favorite stops or cities that you'd like to visit again when not touring?
I think all the cities were pretty cool and different. I can't wait to come do performances in all of them.
Jenn asked: Did anything strange or unusual happen during the tour?
Of course!! My life always has something strange and unusual going on! Haha. In Kentucky, Carol Channing was in our hotel lobby, so I met her and performed for her! It was awesome.
Adam asked: What kind of music are you listening to now?
I'm into a bit of everything... but, my love is rock and roll.
debbie asked: Who are your musical inspirations?
Debbie Harry (Blondie) and Gwen Stefani.
Kristen asked: How has the music industry affected your outlook on how music is created?
I never knew so much went into the making and promotion of a CD. It's a lot of hard work and time... you have to have patience!!
Jenn asked: Is there any part of this business that you don't like or that you could do without?
I think everything in life has its ups and downs, but it's all worth it in the end.
Jenn asked: With Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan in mind, how aware you are of the potential dangers of making it big and how do you plan to avoid them?
I'm very grounded and I have an awesome family to keep me that way! I've surrounded myself with people who love me and won't let me make stupid mistakes and I plan to keep it that way!
Jennifer asked: If you were able to sing a duet with any recording artist or band, who would it be and why?
Wow, this is so hard!! I would've loved to work with John Lennon, but if I had to pick a living person, I think either Blondie or Gwen.
How did you go from American Juniors to Clockwork?
Debbie Hammond saw me on the show and called up my lawyer!!
Before signing with Bad Boy, were there any other close calls as far as other labels making offers?
There were some other offers made, but we weren't really looking for a major label. But, when I met with Diddy, it just fit! I couldn't imagine myself with anyone else.
Lia asked: What is it like being a pop/rock artist on a hip hop/R&B based label?
It's really cool. It gets a lot of people's attention and I think people are interested to see if we can pull it off.
Bad Boy is known for its remixes. The vast majority of Bad Boy albums have had at least one remix. Have you talked about that at all?
You'll just have to wait and see. ;)
What are you looking at as far as video concepts for "Just Watch Me"?
This song is so personal and I just want a video that lets people get to know me and know what I'm all about.
debbie asked: Besides music, what else do you enjoy?
Dancing, acting, painting, writing, shopping, boys! Haha... just a bunch of everything!
Jenn asked: If you weren't pursuing a career in music, what type of career would you be pursuing?
I could never do anything else...
With the demands that are put on your time, how are you handling school?
I'm doing homeschool and it's pretty easy because I do it when I can and my mom's my teacher so she's always ready when I am.
Jenn asked: Do you miss high school, the people and that environment?
I guess I do a little bit, just because I don't get to hang out with my friends like I did. But, I think I prefer touring... lol!
debbie asked: What are your favorite stores?
I love Gregory's!! But, other than that, just any little store with funky clothes.
Powell asked: Now that you have had a chance to perform a few of the songs off of your album, which has been your favorite to perform?
I'm not really sure yet! I just love to perform in general.
Powell asked: Is there one particular venue or city that you most want to perform at?
Not that I can think of... but, I can't wait to preform at huge stadiums!
Powell asked: What would you say is the most emotional song on the album?
It's probably between "Promise Me" and "On a Saturday Night".
Shannon asked: I know this is like asking someone to pick between their children, but do you have a favorite song on the album?
I can't choose!!! I've tried and tried because everyone asks this question, but I still haven't been able to come up with an answer. Haha.
How about a favorite song that didn't make the album?
We recorded a lot of songs, so a bunch of awesome ones didn't make the album. But, who knows? Maybe we'll release them someday.
Brittany asked: With the tour out of the way, what's next on your schedule?
Taking over the world of course! lol.
Thanks Jordan.
There were a couple of questions that I felt were better directed by Jordan's manager, Debbie Hammond, so I asked her, instead. For MURPH2R, the best way to write to her is really
her MySpace page. For Kristen, there are planning to do in stores, but it's too early for them to know where, just yet.
Thanks to everyone who submitted questions.
